Installation

Installing the ID-Cooling Dashflow 240 Black Basic is quite simple but not as easy as it could be. On Socket AM4, you start by removing the plastic AMD brackets on the motherboard. Then secure the AMD backplate by putting the four AMD mounting screws through the mounting brackets. After they are ready, slide the red spacers meant for the AM4 Socket onto the screws and then secure each bracket to the backplate. While it could be simplified further, the screws are long enough to start with one at a time and thread the screw in, leaving enough space to do the other side. Once one bracket is in place, the second one is far easier. At this point, you can apply either the included thermal paste or one you prefer.

Attach the pump to the mounting brackets and alternate between the two spring screws to apply even pressure. Next, mount the radiator and fans.

With everything installed, all that remains is to plug the pump and fans in via the SATA power cable included with the pump and the PWM splitter cable for the fans.

Overall, the installation was pretty straightforward on AMD; it was not the best mounting solution, but it worked just fine. I would have preferred threaded stand-offs on the AMD side to make things easier. On Intel, the installation is a walk in the park. The spacers hold the backplate in place enough to slide the mounting brackets on and then secure everything via the nuts.
