Overclocking the Core i9-7900X is relatively easy due to its unlocked multiplier. All you have to do is set the desired multiplier in the BIOS and you're good to go.
Our CPU reached 4.5 GHz completely stable easily, with 4.6 GHz in reach with high voltage. At 4.5 GHz, the i9-7900X gets closer to the Threadripper 1950X in synthetic multi-threaded tests, while extending its lead in video-encoding and gaming performance. As with all processors in this category, we recommend you to use AIO liquid cooling with this chip. We used a 240 mm AIO.
