Use
Using the iStarUSA xAGE-902 Dual HDD Docking Station is very easy. Insert the hard disks, attach the necessary power, SATA or USB 2.0 cables and power up. In order to avoid data corruption it's always a good idea to have the disks inserted and ready to go before the attached system is powered up. The blue LED indicates that the dock is powered on while the red LED indicated HDD activity.
USB 2.0
The iStarUSA xAGE-902 shows very good USB 2.0 performance across the board with burst rate, read times, and CPU utilization. With a 34.4 MB/s average read and a meager 3% CPU utilization the xAGE-902 is in the upper echelon of HDD docks we have reviewed in terms of USB 2.0 performance.
ATTO produces nearly identical results as HD Tach, showing the xAGE 902's performance is very good.
eSATA
eSATA performance worked just as well as plugging the hard disk directly into a SATA port on the motherboard with nothing on the dock hindering performance. HD Tach and ATTO clearly show that with little to no CPU usage, high burst speeds and on-par read and write performance.
