Kennerton Audio mostly focuses on high-end offerings, but the Laguz dubbed mid-range offering packs quite a punch, especially considering its size.
Besides the aesthetics, which I am quite fond of, the small size means that these are pretty easy to get to fit right. The design is a bit out there, but is ultimately very well executed, working equally well for running the cable over your ears or simply having them dangle straight down.
Tonality-wise, the Laguz are very easy going. The bass is big and extends really well for a set of in-ears with only one miniature dynamic driver. Albeit bass heavy, these are not totally overpowering, and the midrange is quite detailed. Kennerton's Laguz is quite close to the HiFiMAN RE-400s in terms of detail, with a slight edge in the upper midrange since it is not sibilant at all. The bass is just as tight as with the Brainwavz S5, but there is more, which is something a lot of people will enjoy.
Treble-wise, the Laguz cannot compete with the RE-400 and RE-600, but it does give the Brainwavz S5 a serious run for its money. In terms of bass performance, the Laguz has the edge over the Brainwavz and HiFiMAN offerings while also being the most expensive of the three, although only by $10 (on average).
In terms of sound-stage performance, the three $100 offerings are quite alike. The Laguz is a bit behind the RE-400, but on-par with the Brainwavz S5, at least with most types of music.
