Lian Li PC-A12 Review

Packaging

I received the PC-A12 case through the regular Canada Post mail in good condition. There was one little bang on the side of the box, but it was certainly nothing that could have damaged the case. The case comes well packed in Styrofoam and is wrapped in plastic so it won't get scratched.

A Closer Look

Lian Li's new case, the PC-A12 is part of their Classic Series cases. It uses the same main body of all the cases in the series, just it has a different front and slightly different inside layout. The PC-A12 is not as fancy as the PC-A16 that we just reviewed. When I say "not as fancy", I mean by not having as many thumb screws, no removable motherboard tray, two 120 mm fans instead of three.

The case has a very simple look - The only item on the case that I would consider to be "bling bling" would be the blue Cathode tube that is located in the front panel of the case between the black and silver parts.

The PC-A12 has a swing open front which is lockable. When opened, four 5.25" drives bays, and two 3.5" bays are exposed along with the power and reset switches. When the door is not locked shut, two roller ball style latches hold the door from swinging open.

The back of the case has a 120 mm fan that acts as an exhaust. The PSU cutout has an Aluminum plate over it that is held in place by four thumbs screws so that the PSU can be easily removed. The I/O panel is located on the side of the case and consists of two USB 2.0 ports, one IEEE1394 (Firewire) port, Audio out, and Microphone.
