Packaging and Accessories

Unlike the PurePlay Z3 2.0, Lypertek appears to have gone simpler with a single color SKU for the new PurePlay Z5. Packaging is also without a plastic seal, although this particular box shipped inside a larger cardboard box with fancy packaging as part of a review parcel. The product box is cardboard too, and black to match the product inside. On the front is the Lypertek logo applied in an iridescent manner, which changes color slightly depending on the viewing angle, with a render of the TWS earphones below and the product name at the bottom. More of this continues on the back and sides with marketing features and technical specifications, and a QR code on the side takes you to the mobile app installer for the platform of your choice.

Two magnets hold the box clasped shut, and it opens up sideways to reveal the contents, including a thank-you note for purchasing the PurePlay Z5. In a pleasant change from the norm, this note also lists the types of ear tips included and what they are intended for, which will go a long way in identifying them, too. I also appreciate Lypertek letting the end user know of the importance of ear tips and a good seal on in-ear monitors such as these, even if they are wireless. The next layer consists of a thick foam piece with machined cutouts to hold the charging case at the bottom and earphones above. Notches allow fingers around each item to pull them out easily, and a pull tab above is used to lift this foam piece out and access the bottom layer.

Well, penultimate layer anyway. This time, we are greeted by a multi-language quick start guide that goes over the setup and pairing of the earphones in addition to the pre-programmed touch-control functions. It comes inside a plastic pouch, and we then finally get to the bottom with another cardboard sheet that marks the presence of a charging cable and ear tips in two separate pouches. The cable is the typical short USB Type-A to Type-C cable that comes with TWS earphones, and intended to charge the case we saw earlier.

Knowing the TWS earphones come with a set of ear tips pre-installed, I removed them for a group photo of the many ear tips you get with the PurePlay Z5. This collection of three sizes (S/M/L) of thicker silicone "PurePower" tips and five sizes (SS/S/M/L/XL) of thinner silicone "PureSpace" ear tips and two sets (S/M) of high-density foam "PureComfort" tips puts most expensive wired IEMs to shame, let alone the average TWS set that is usually very spartan in this regard. Kudos to Lypertek for going beyond expectations here, and the various included options will help achieve that proper seal and fit discussed earlier.
