Removing the four visible screws on the top of the PSU allows taking off the outer shell. While typically the PSU fan would be mounted to it, in this case the fan is mounted on a separate steel frame. With the fan removed we find a neat and not overcrowded PCB.


Starting from the AC filtering, right on the AC connector we find two Y and one X capacitor. On the main board we find two additional Y and one X capacitors as well as two chokes and a MOV. According to best practices, the chokes have a fair amount of "goop" to prevent unwanted coil whine.


Most of the ICs used in this unit can be seen quite well. The CM6500UNX is used as the APFC controller, CU6901VPA is chosen as the resonant controller and the WT7527RA is installed as the supervisor IC, taking care of all the PSU protections. EM8569C is the 5Vsb PWM controller. Six 1D040L MOSFETs are used for the +12V switching with a couple of empty slots available (presumably, for the higher rated version).


The modular cable connector board features quite a few additional capacitors for additional filtering capabilities. It also has an unused place for an additional 12V-2x6 connector.


A DC-DC converter board takes care of the minor rails and coincidentally acts as an anchor point for the fan hybrid mode cable extender.


The TITAN PLA 1000 W uses two bulk capacitors from the Nippon Chemi-Con KMR series (rated for 560 uF / 420 V and 330 uF / 420 V respectively). For electrolytic capacitors either Nippon Chemi-Con or Nichicon capacitors are used exclusively throughout the PSU.


The back of the PSU does not have any notable electrical components. Overall the build quality of the unit is very good.

While the TITAN PLA series has only been officially introduced in Q4 2024, you might find the inside of the unit familiar. The TITAN PLA 1000 W shares its DNA with the Seasonic Vertex-PX 1000. While we definitely can't say that these two units are identical underneath, we know that Seasonic is the unit's OEM.


The fan used here is a 135 mm HA13525H12F-Z (12 V, 0.5 A, up to 2000 RPM) with a fluid dynamic bearing. It is partially covered in clean plastic to aid in better directing the airflow. From our previous encounters we know that it is very quiet at low to medium RPMs, so we can expect good acoustic performance from the unit.
