Packaging

Aside from the mouse, one finds three weight discs, two additional side panels, a USB Type-C to Type-A charging cable, wireless dongle, wireless extender, quick start guide, and sticker in the sturdy box.

Weight

In the base configuration without any weights, my scale shows around 107 g (+/- 1 g), which is much lower than the weight cited by Mountain. Three discs weighing 6.5 g, 8.5 g, and 10.5 g are included with the Makalu Max, which bring the weight up to 132 g. By adding the included and slightly larger additional side panel, the weight can be increased even further. Compared to competitors such as the Razer Basilisk V3 Pro at 113 g or ASUS ROG Chakram X at 128 g, the weight of the Makalu Max isn't out of line, though it does fall massively short of the wired Makalu 67, which clocked in at 64 g. In addition, the Makalu 67 is noticeably back-heavy, which has the mouse feel heavier than it is.

Cable

The Makalu Max comes with a paracord-like, braided USB Type-A to Type-C charging cable. There is no anchor at the mouse-end of the cable, so the cable may come loose during use, though it is unlikely given how firm the connection is. In terms of flexibility, this one isn't quite on the level of the recent ASUS ROG or Glorious charging cables, though roughly on par with the charging cables seen on recent Razer releases such as the Basilisk V3 Pro. Accordingly, playing while charging is possible on the Makalu Max without feeling overly restricted. The cable has a measured length of 1.80 m, falling short of the advertised 2 m.

The charging cable also functions as an extension cable when used with the wireless extender. The wireless extender can be used to keep the distance between dongle and mouse as short as possible.

Feet

The feet on the Makalu Max are white-dyed pure PTFE (Teflon) feet with slightly rounded edges. Glide is very good and thickness above average. The ring around the sensor ensures CPI stay consistent upon applying vertical pressure. Indents next to the feet make them easier to remove. Before first use, removing the barely visible transparent plastic film on the feet is strongly recommended.
