Shape

The Makalu Max is a modular design, with its left and right side panels being magnetically attached and thus swappable. In its base configuration, the shape of the Makalu Max is identical to that of the Makalu 67: A centered and fairly tall, albeit not too tapered hump, which steeply declines towards a comparatively low-sitting front, the rear flaring out significantly towards the left, a fairly slim front, limited curvature on the sides, and no comfort grooves on the main buttons. The left-side panel can be changed to one which adds a thumb rest, but leaves the curvature intact, whereas the right-side panel alters the curvature significantly, and adds a ring finger rest reminiscent of the Mionix Naos. Both of these alternative panels flow organically with the base shape, and feel like natural extensions rather than literally "tacked on." Being magnetically attached, the side panels sit firmly, and the fitting is good for the most part.

As for grip styles, I'd say the Makalu Max is generally suited for palm and claw grip. It is a medium-sized mouse with a fairly pronounced hump, which makes it more suitable for medium to large hands. For reference, my hands are 19 cm long and 10 cm wide, and I found the Makalu Max very comfortable in claw grip.

Dimensions

This table includes the dimensions of the Makalu Max and several other right-handed ergonomic mice. "Front height" denotes the distance between the base and main buttons. Measurements with two decimals have been taken with a caliper, while those with one decimal have been taken with a ruler. For a full list of all measurements taken, please refer to this sheet compiled by an esteemed community member.
