Installation
Installing the MSI MEG CORELIQUID S280 is rather easy on AMD's AM4 socket. First, you will need to remove the plastic brackets, but keep the original AMD backplate handy. Next, resecure the backplate with the proper standoffs. If you plan to use the pre-applied paste, you can skip the next step. However, if you have a thermal paste you prefer, now is the time to clean the copper coldplate to apply thermal paste to the CPU IHS.
Now with the proper mounting bracket on the CPU, line up the pump with the standoffs and slide it down and into place. Using the thumbscrews, secure the pump to the motherboard. If you haven't done so, remove the protective film from the IPS display and position the pump cover in place. It uses magnets, so you will feel when it's fully seated.
Next, mount the radiator and fans.
All that remains is to connect the wiring and install the necessary software, giving you control over the fans, pump, and IPS display.
Overall, the installation was fairly straightforward for both platforms. The unit is designed to have all the fans connected to the pump, which then allows for granular control via software thanks to a USB header connected to the motherboard. It offers users the ability to change the image on the display screen or have it display fan RPM, CPU temperature, live weather updates, MP4s or GIF files, etc.
