Nixeus REVEL Fit Review

Surface

Nixeus knows how to coat their mice, that's for sure. The REVEL Fit is hands down one of the grippiest mice I have ever had the chance to try. The top and side panels are different to the touch. The top shell features a very smooth and extremely pleasant coating. As far as I know, the whole mouse is rubberized, but I am not entirely sure on this. This area seems to have a matte UV coating, but with a tad more grip. The small upper panel that engulfs the scroll wheel and CPI button features a glossy finish that tends to collect fingerprints readily. Thankfully, this surface area is quite small, so cleaning it is very easy. The same applies to the side buttons and CPI button. As for the scroll wheel, the entire part that sticks out from the mouse is a grooved rubber ring that is soft to the touch.

The sides and front of the mouse feel way different—the surface is way more textured here, and it's so good I can hardly describe it. Again, it's a matte rubberization, but with a lot more grip than on top of the mouse shell. As for durability, rubberized coatings don't tend to last too long, but let's hope this one will stand the trial of time.

With extremely dry hands, the side parts may feel odd, like your hand is touching some sort of talcum powder or very fine grit sandpaper. As for me, I have rather sweaty hands, which makes this coating nirvana, and I wish more mice would feature the same material!

Build Quality

My hope was that the Fit would be of an astonishing, rock-solid build quality, and I have got to say, it's close. I have found two small issues. When I shake the mouse really hard, there is some sort of rattling from the inside, but I couldn't figure what causes it, and it's not always present. My initial guess was one of the buttons, but that's not the case; even when I held down all buttons, the rattling was present. I guess there is an internal cable or another loose part inside. Secondly, my left main button feels scratchy somehow. This isn't the case all the time either; when repeatedly pressed, the button feels perfectly normal.

Weight

At 104 g with a few cm of cable, the REVEL Fit isn't a lightweight mouse at all. However, its dimensions put it into a medium-weight category. It really doesn't feel heavy when used, and I'm coming from mice that are sub 80 g. Weight distribution and balance are both great; neither front nor back heavy, the mouse feels natural in the hands.
