When products like this are passed to me, I can't help but talk a fair bit about them. nubia has hit the mark with the REDMAGIC 7S Pro, delivering a great gaming device that has add-on features that actually work and make a difference in how you use the device. These are not just frills and gimmicks; nubia took time and care in developing a product better than what even they have done before, chock full of features that help you get a better experience than you would have had otherwise.

First and foremost, it starts with high level performance. Then that performance is backed by a more than capable cooling solution. It requires a fan to be under high load and deliver this kind of performance, and rather than shy away from that, nubia has a crazy 20,000 RPM fan, albeit tiny. Yet since it is tiny, it only makes a tiny amount of noise... so much so that it is barely audible if you have a game or video playing. Oh, and it is RGB, too. That fan really helps the REDMAGIC 7S Pro keep top speeds on the Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 chipset.

Performance in all aspects is here too; 5G capability notwithstanding; even audio is considered and tweaked, with a crazily loud solution that delivers fantastic audio in nearly all circumstances, and helps you win games. 3D positioning in game can't be done with poor audio, so DTS Ultra:X capabilities are here too and work tremendously well. If that's not enough, toss on your favorite headphones and turn them up, even wired ones.

One of nubia's stand-out features in their gaming phones is the inclusion of shoulder buttons on one side that can be set to emulate any part of the screen, providing huge capabilities in nearly every game. FPS games and driving games get huge functionality boosts as you get trigger controls that would have otherwise been restricted to your thumbs, and then mobile gaming becomes so much more than just pecking with two fingers or your thumbs; now you're using fore fingers and thumbs simultaneously. That means added ADS and trigger buttons are added in to FPS games, and driving games get a gas and brake pedal right at the top of the phone like a portable console, instantly making you more capable than you would have been otherwise. I cannot talk about this enough as it made mobile gaming completely different for me personally, and meant I didn't need an external controller to play games on my phone. I find myself quite frustrated by a simple two-thumb interface on games, and this phone completely takes care of that.

It is hard to not talk about this phone and it's focus on gaming, and how well that it does that. Making what would be a silent mode switch on some phones into something that puts games first and everything else second is merely just the beginning. Pushing things like audio and force feedback capabilities to a chip external to main processor is the kind of thing that large PCs do, and nubia didn't have to given the power of the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip inside, but it's all about delivering the best mobile gaming they can to you. You are given the ability to tune that performance too, so you can favor battery life should you so desire, and that is just the start to the customizations that are available. This phone really fits into a hardcore gamers niche quite well I think, and that because nubia really does go all in when it comes to this device and gaming. The aforementioned triggers are there for that purpose too, after all. This REDMAGIC 7S Pro was built by nubia for gamers, and they make zero apologies for it.

In the end, that's a rather long list of useful features the REDMAGIC 7S Pro has, even if a couple of them clearly interfere with waterproofing on this phone. I wonder if they put in a humidity sensor like apple...

It's easy to get carried way when looking at nubia's REDMAGIC 7S Pro. It really takes the focus on gaming over the top, but does so elegantly, and thoughtfully. It has a decent list of specifications every which way, too, so if you are in the market for a new 5G gaming phone, you may want to give the nubia REDMAGIC 7S Pro your consideration. It really is a great gaming device that also happens to be a decent phone too.
