  • The Parrot AR.Drone 2.0 sells for $299.99 online.
  • Extremely easy to fly
  • 720p HD recording capability
  • Altitude control sensor
  • Absolute control

  • Cheap spare parts
  • Motion control features for video recording
  • Still pricey at $299
  • Video and control delay not completely eliminated
Parrot once again succeeds at making a quadro-copter for the masses. The AR.Drone 2.0 is a great RC machine that provides tons of fun at a reasonable cost. The fact that anyone, no matter the RC flying skill level, can jump right into flying one is a great treat, and with the absolute control you can easily teach children to fly it as well. Interestingly enough Parrot are developing it in several different areas at once, there is a little bit for everyone with the new 2.0 design. It is faster, more customizable and has a lot of new features that expand its capabilities in terms stable video recording.
The fact that you get all these new features at the same cost as the original is nice, and the 2.0 version is definitely better value yet still quite expensive. What is inexpensive is the spare parts. Due to the fact that is shares many components with the older drone it is quite cheap to replace rotors and landing gear.
Overall it is a very fun package which will give you loads of outdoor fun. The possibility to play against friends equipped with AR.Drones is very intriguing and it is definitely a type of gaming that could get a big following, only issue is of course the price.
