Introduction

Patriot Logo

Dating back to 1985, Patriot was founded in the United States San Francisco Bay Area and has since expanded, with distribution channels around the world offering consumers access to a wide range of different products. While the headquarters may still be located in the USA, all the company's products are assembled in the country, with facilities in Fremont, California, Taipei, and Taiwan.

Patriot currently offers multiple memory products, with consumer and enterprise lines to fit a wide range of consumer needs. The company first brought forward the well-established DDR4 Viper Venom brand, later the Extreme series, and with the addition of non-binary capacities came an updated Elite series last year. With these three distinct product lines, Patriot sells a wide variety of memory kit configurations with binned frequencies, ranging from 5200 MT/s to 8400 MT/s and configurations of 16 GB (2x 8 GB), 32 GB (2x 16 GB) and 48 GB (2x 24 GB) kits in single-rank format, with a number of dual-rank configurations as well.

In this review, we will be taking a closer look at the Patriot Viper Patriot Xtreme 5 DDR5-7600 memory kit, marketed mainly towards overclocking PC enthusiasts and hardcore gamers who are looking to get that extra little bit out of their computers. This memory kit comes with three XMP profiles, with the main 7600 MT/s profile using enthusiast-grade primary timings of 36-48-48-84-117 at 1.45 V. Being that this is an enthusiast tier product, it does however come with some hardware prerequisites for both AMD and Intel systems. We will cover this information in more detail further along in the review. Now, with the introduction out of the way, let us see how this memory kit stacks up against the competition, beginning with a look at the specifications.
