Value and Conclusion

  • The Rosewill RK-9000 series keyboards will set you back $79.99.
  • Choice of key mechanisms all Cherry MX-switches are available
  • Less blinged-out design than many gaming keyboards
  • Very durable finish
  • Easy to clean due to surface finish choices
  • Reasonable price
  • Removable cable
  • Removable cable
  • No USB ports
  • No rubber on stands
  • No media controls
Rosewill managed to make a well performing, well priced keyboard that will appeal to people who want mechanical switches without an extravagant design. As a gaming keyboard it does alright; the MX Reds perform brilliantly as always and the standard layout makes it easy to get used to. We do miss the media controls and the USB ports that we have seen on many gaming grade mechanical keyboards. Another blunder from Rosewill is the lack of rubber beneath the stand mechanisms which makes the keyboard slide around somewhat when you are using it in the elevated position.
The fact that the keyboard has a plain design without many details is both a pro and a con. For some it will look dull for others the plain finish could be a pro because it is more durable and easier to clean. The cable design is definitely a less sturdy design than those with fixed cables, or the having a good strain relief system, but this is only a minor issue.
Overall the Rosewill RK-9000RE keyboard is a good choice, for budget oriented gamers who want a well-priced gaming keyboard and can live without extra features like media keys or macros.
