Introduction

Seasonic Logo

Seasonic is well known for their excellent power supplies, making them probably the most reputable PSU manufacturer on the market. Back in 2003 they went beyond being OEM-only to introduce their own products into the retail space with impressive success.

This brings us to today's review subject - the Seasonic VERTEX GX 850 W, which is a high-performance, fully modular power supply designed to meet the demands of modern gaming and workstation PCs. Featuring ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.0 support, it delivers exceptional efficiency, reliability, and compatibility with the latest GPUs and components. As with all VERTEX GX series PSUs (available in 750, 850, 1000 and 1200 W capacities), the GX-850 is an 80 Plus Gold certified unit, offering an industry-leading 12-year warranty with top quality components.

Before looking at the packaging and the PSU itself, here is the specifications table.

Packaging and Accessories

Before going into the contents of the box, we need to clarify that some information visible on the box might not be the same as you saw on the specifications table or at Seasonic's product website. While the original release of the Vertex GX was "only" ATX 3.0 compliant, shipping with a 12VHPWR cable. Seasonic later updated the specifications of the unit and included the 12V-2x6 cable and bumped up the warranty to 12 years.

Inside the box we find some paperware (user manual, installation guide, cable angle guide as well as a gift coupon), AC power cable, a pouch with the modular cables and the power supply itself, packaged securely in some foam. Mounting screws, zip ties, Velcro ties, a sticker and a PSU testing header are supplied as well, making the bundle quite extensive.

As mentioned a couple of paragraphs earlier, the original cabling of the VERTEX GX 850 W has been upgraded, thus the table below lists the cables that are included in the updated bundle.
