Sennheiser needs no introduction on TechPowerUp, being synonymous with highly successful products, including the HD 6XX we took a look at recently. Along the way, it has managed to make people forget or disregard some less successful items, as well as apprehensions about the brand being sold to another company, which I suppose is a testament to its marketing department. That very section reached out to me when I was in the US to gauge interest in a review of the original Sennheiser Momentum TWS and over-ear Bluetooth headphones, but then things happened, and I am now in the UK talking to a whole different set of people. As it turns out, we also got into covering headphones and earphones in more detail since, and that is a good base for Sennheiser's much-awaited TWS earphones debut on TechPowerUp. Thanks to the company for providing a review sample!
As with any global brand, Sennheiser has a few different SKUs in this product lineup covering different markets. Here in the UK, as well as the USA, we have the base CX, CX Plus that adds active noise cancellation, and Momentum 2, which is the current flagship. I have the CX True Wireless on hand, and it clearly targets a mainstream audience with a more budget-friendly price, for Sennheiser, anyway, and a tuning that emphasis the bass response. It is available in black or white, and my review of the black set should be representative of both outside of the difference in color.

Packaging and Accessories
The CX TWS ships in a white-colored product box that comes inside a plastic wrap. The box is about average in size for TWS earphones, with the company logo, product name, and a render of the earphones and charging case on the front. Salient marketing features are pointed out here, such as Bass Boost in large font, which continues on the back and sides in multiple different languages. There is a reminder to download the first-party mobile app to make the most of the product, which we will cover in more detail later on in this review.
Opening the box is best done by removing the seal on the bottom and flipping up the top as seen above. There is a welcome note from Sennheiser, with photos of its products over the years. We then see a plastic blister layer that has shaped cutout for the charging case with the earphones inside, as well as a separate compartment with a thin cardboard box for the rest of the accessories, including paperwork in various languages on this European model. I suggest going through the quick start guide at the very least since it walks you through the setup, charging, and the pre-programmed touch controls on the CX TWS. Those with more time and patience will be better served with the more detailed user manual available online.
The accessory box contains the expected charging cable for the case—a typical short USB Type-A to Type-C cable—and separately stored and labeled silicone ear tips in sizes XS, S, and L, so the size M ear tips are probably pre-installed on the TWS earphones, which are no doubt inside the case. As that was the case, I took out the M-sized ear tips for the family photo above. These are single-flange, soft silicone ear tips with a cross pattern in the bore that will add stiffness, while interrupting the sound field going through. It is not a rich assortment of accessories, but I appreciate the inclusion of size XS tips for smaller ear canals.
