Installation

To install the Fera 3 RGB, first prepare the backplate for your particular system. Once done, position said backplate on the motherboard. Turning the system around, you can now slide the black plastic spacers over the backplate screws, which will allow you to secure the mounting arms and entire mounting system in place.

With the mounting hardware secure, you can now apply thermal paste and then position and secure the heatsink to the mounting hardware.

Finally, install the fan and then connect all the various wires, including the RGB LED connectors for the heatsink and the fan. If your motherboard supports RGB, you can connect them to the motherboard directly and use the included software. If your motherboard does have RGB connectors, you can use the controller that is included.

The mounting hardware is relatively solid in regards to its design making it easy to work with, and while I would prefer the plastic standoffs to screw on or offer a snug fit to hold the backplate in position, the lack of either is a minor issue. In some systems, holding the backplate in place and securing the mounting arms may prove challenging; however, in a standard case with a proper backplate cutout, it is not likely to be an issue. Regarding overall difficulty, I would rate the Fera 3 RGB's installation an 8 on a scale of 1 (hardest) to 10 (easiest).
