Taking a look at the front of the chassis, SilverStone has kept things simple, symmetrical and functional. The front is made of sturdy plastic as a base and sports angled surfaces with straight edges which add a visual bulk to the overall design. You may pull the cover off to reveal two 140 mm pre-installed intake fans. Those who want to install four 5.25" drive bays will have to sacrifice the fan at the top, as the case ships with a two 5.25" configuration pre-assembled. In the rear, the enclosure features a traditional tower layout with the PSU bay on the bottom and the motherboard upright.
The bottom half of the SETA D1 front consists of a metal mesh surface to allow for the fans to pull in cool air. In the top, the four 5.25" bays are also protected by mesh covers, meaning that any additional cooling that could be installed here will also benefit from the same type of fresh air access. In the very top, you will find two USB 3.0 Type-A, one Type-C and a single audio combo plug. All of these are black, which is a nice touch. Next to these is a small reset button and a larger square power button with an embedded LED strip. While none of these are labeled, there is really no need anyways as each I/O component function is easy to grasp.
In the rear, on the bottom, is the PSU bay with a single set of holes to dictate which way the PSU is installed. Above that are the seven horizontal and two vertical expansion slots. Seeing the latter here is interesting, as those slots would put the GPU pretty close to the solid, sound-dampened side panel. In reality, there is no incentive to place a GPU in this position within the SETA D1, neither for looks nor performance. In the very top is another 140 mm fan, this time set to push hot air out the back of the chassis. This brings the pre-installed cooling units to a solid three 140 mm fans.
Both side panels are completely solid and flush with the rest of the chassis. Large, captive thumb screws hold each of them in place securely as well.
The entire top is one big air vent that is protected by a magnetic, metal mesh dust filter. Removing it reveals elongated mounting holes for either three 120 or two 140 mm fans.
On the underside of the SilverStone SETA D1 is a removable, fine mesh dust filter that may be pulled out the back for cleaning purposes.
