Sonos Sub Mini Review - Pricey Bass

The Package »

Introduction

Sonos Logo

No device in Sonos history has been as eagerly awaited as the Sub Mini, a compact subwoofer designed to pair wirelessly with the company's Beam Gen 2 (reviewed here) and Ray (reviewed here) soundbars, as well as the One and One SL speakers, and various models from the SYMFONISK line, sold by IKEA.

Of course, the Sub Mini can also be paired with the company's largest speakers, called the Five (reviewed here), as well as the Arc soundbar, but such pairings make less sense; Sonos would prefer if you paired those with its larger, more powerful, and significantly more expensive subwoofer, dubbed the Sub. This, of course, does not mean that the Sub Mini won't noticeably improve the low-end prowess of the Sonos Arc. Still, there is a discrepancy in the intended place of their application: while the Arc is designed for large living rooms, the Sub Mini belongs in small and medium-sized rooms. The only Sonos speakers that don't support the Sub Mini are the company's portable duet: the Roam and Move.
