Sonos Sub Mini Review - Pricey Bass

After connecting the Sub Mini to a power outlet, it will take approximately two minutes for it to be recognized in the Sonos S2 mobile application (Android, iOS), upgraded to the current firmware version, and connected to the desired Sonos speaker(s) or soundbar. The subwoofer and speakers are connected via a dedicated 5 GHz wireless band, thus eliminating any audible bass "delay." In practice, the subwoofer sounds as if it is connected to the speakers/soundbar by a wire.

Through the same application, you'll be able to adjust only two parameters related to Sub Mini: bass power, on a scale of ±15, and phase (0 or 180°). The option of selecting a crossover – the frequency at which the speakers relay bass to the subwoofer, is absent. The company's representatives told us that they decided to optimize the crossover for all their speakers and soundbars themselves, since they are completely familiar with their characteristics. That makes sense, but we'd still like to see an "advanced" menu where more knowledgeable users could play around with the Sub Mini's integration with the rest of the system. The crossover can only be defined manually if the Sub Mini is connected to the company's Amp amplifier, since in that scenario, Sonos can't know which speakers we pair it with.
