Closer Examination

The charging/carry case for TWS earphones is a critical component of the overall user experience and we see Status has gone with a more traditional pill-shape design, albeit with less rounded corners on the top relative to the rest of the body. The "bone" color here makes for an off-white, nearly ivory color applied to the ABS plastic which itself is smudge-resistant and fits easily in a pocket. There are three indicator LEDs on the front to help visualize the case's battery level during charging and in use. On the back is a flush hinge, a Type-C port for wired charging, and a reset button which is nice to see. The case houses a 3.7 V/450 mAh battery inside and has plenty of room for the wireless earphones in their own compartments as usual. Magnetic pins keep the IEMs in place and help in charging, with each side having a dedicated LED for this purpose. Status does not provide the battery capacity for the IEMs but we do know the case gives three extra charge cycles before running out of battery. This is about average for TWS IEMs these days, as is the 450 mAh battery capacity itself.

The earphones themselves do come off more fashion oriented and targeting the social media crowd—hence the marketing on Instagram etc. Both color versions have a glossy metal trim going all around the stem on the bottom, with the stem itself being short and stubby. The black version is more subtle if this comes off too strong for you, although I do see the appeal once these are in the ears. The rest of the body is the same plastic as on the case itself but you will still find fingerprints and dust on the bottom section over time. The stem on the bottom has the charging pins and an access hole for one of the three microphones (per side). The other two are placed on the top and side, and the three are used for ANC as well as to pick up your voice for calls/smart assistant use etc. We also see a physical button on the top to go with a touch control sensor placed above the glossy trim on the stem.

Size M silicone ear tips come pre-installed on the nozzle and it's quite easy to swap to the other two sizes, or even your own aftermarket tips here. We also see a mesh filter on the nozzle to help prevent contaminants going in as well as a sneak peek at the drivers inside. The shells are fairly bulbous but not huge in size and Status has also pre-installed the fit-wings (size 1, marked L and R) that can also be removed and changed over if this size doesn't snugly fit in your ear concha. Keep in mind that both ear canals won't necessarily have the best seal with the same size or set, either.
