Introduction

SteelSeries is a Denmark-based peripherals company founded in 2001. The Prime line-up consists of no less than five mice: Prime, Prime+, Prime Wireless, Prime Mini, and Prime Mini Wireless, all of which will be reviewed here on TechPowerUp. The first of the bunch is the regular Prime, and much like all the others, it introduces a for SteelSeries new type of micro-switch for the main buttons. Dubbed "Prestige OM" (optical-magnetic) by SteelSeries, this type of switch utilizes a torsion spring, held in place by a magnet and breaking the beam of light upon actuation. SteelSeries advertises Prestige OM switches to retain their actuation force throughout their entire life span (100 million clicks). As for the sensor, the TrueMove Pro capable of 18,000 CPI is used. Despite weighing just 69 g, the Prime does not have any externally visible holes. Furthermore, the Prime comes with a paracord-like, detachable Micro-USB cable and can be fully customized within SteelSeries GG.
