Software

The Sensei Ten is compatible with SteelSeries Engine, SteelSeries' staple software suite. All available options are accessible on a single page: button remapping, macro functionality, acceleration settings, angle snapping, and polling rate. CPI adjustment ranges from 50–18,000 CPI in increments of 50 for up to five levels, which can be cycled through by pressing the dedicated CPI button on the top of the mouse. Depending on the selected level the LED above the CPI button lights up one, two, three, four, or five times. Furthermore, the software allows one to independently control the two RGB lighting zones, which are the scroll wheel and the illuminated logo on the back. The software had a RAM footprint of 280 MB on average on my system. Irritatingly, a single process (RAM footprint: 40 MB) keeps running even after closing the software on the taskbar.

Lighting

The SteelSeries Sensei Ten has two zones for RGB lighting that can be controlled independently of each other—namely, the scroll wheel and the illuminated logo on the back. Through the software it is possible to select one of four available pre-defined lighting effects. These are ColorShift (default), MultiColor Breathe, Steady, and Trigger. "ColorShift" lets the colors blend organically into each other. "MultiColor Breathe" is similar, albeit with a breathe effect. "Steady" is a permanent single color. "Trigger" shifts the colors upon each press of the main buttons. Furthermore, it is possible to adjust the speed of transitions. Of course, it is also possible to disable the lighting altogether.

Color accuracy and vibrancy are excellent throughout. Here's a short demonstration video of the "ColorShift" program:
