I've already covered a set of Team Group's 3000 MHz Night Hawk DIMMs, but the question was asked, do LEDs affect performance? I mean, RGB LEDs are simple devices, but without any added wires, what's the story here? Is there even a story? We're about to find out.

DDR4 itself has been around for some time now, nearly three years. If I recall correctly, we were to expect speeds just over 4000 MHz, but not all manufacturers have gotten there yet, and the sticks that do cost a lot. With 3000 MHz speeds being common, we're about half-way through that journey (DDR5 projected for 2020?) and still most memory brands like Team Group have managed to keep things looking fresh and new as speeds have increased. This inclusion of RGB lighting, while something I personally asked for many times, apparently affects those going for extreme overclocking using things like LN2 for cooling, but what do these LEDs mean for us normal folk, other than fancy looks?
