File Center

File Center allows you to work on all files stored on the NAS.

App Center

You will find several interesting applications in App Center. There might not be as many apps as with QNAP's and Synology's optional packages, but Thecus seems to be working on adding more.

Along with Plex, you will find other multimedia applications, like PlexPy and VLC media player, which can handle anything.

We installed the Local Display app along with Kodi in order to evaluate the performance of the NAS in tougher scenarios.

Local Display & Kodi

Local Display uses the server's HDMI and DisplayPort outputs, which makes utilizing the full multimedia capabilities of the N2810 Pro possible.

Kodi is probably the best multimedia application around. Through it, we were able to reproduce everything we tried, from high bit-rate HD to 4K content.

The unit's hardware is perfectly capable of handling even the most demanding multimedia content; however, stability is an issue. We ran into an issue where the boot process kept getting stuck if a 4K monitor was attached to the NAS. The only way to properly boot the NAS was to remove both HDDs for a short period of time before installing them again. The problem persisted with both outputs (HDMI and DisplayPort). Thecus should provide a fix, and the sooner the better. We can't be sure of whether our HDDs caused this particular issue, but do make a point of using the same HDDs in every NAS review, and we never encountered this particular problem before, even with other Thecus NAS servers.
