System Installation

Oh wow. So much much space!

I'm going to move my main system into the Thermaltake Eureka. This messed up case was my PC's home for seven years. It was the first ATX case I ever bought. It originally came with a door ;)

After 10 minutes of taking stuff apart I had everything removed. Screwing the motherboard onto the tray was very easy. All screw holes did align perfectly.

Thermaltake has put the mounting holes for the power supply symmetrical, you can install the PSU rotated by 180° as well.

During DVD burner installation I messed up. I used a screw with a big head which got the tray stuck in the case. It required quite a bit of force to get it back out. After using the right screw everything worked fine. There are a lot of screws of every kind included with the case.

I thought everybody knew, but Urlyin was kinda surprised to see a HDD mounted "backwards" i.e. with the cables running in the back. Makes for a much tidier appearance. I noticed that the rubber grommets which are supposed to quiet the HDDs are not doing such a great job. While the 250 GB WD Caviar SE is whisper quiet, the 74 GB Raptor's seek noise is very loud. It gets amplified by the case big time. What I did to fix this was put the HDD on the bottom most HDD tray without screwing it in. This greatly reduced the noise.

Installation complete. Tucking cables away is pretty easy, there are lots of things you can hide the wires behind.
