Value and Conclusion

  • The Thermaltake Lanbox costs starts at around 110 USD for the black steel variant with no windows or handle. The top of the line, reviewed Lanbox in aluminum with window and handle will set you back 130 USD. This may be a bit more than other cases, but is definitely worth it!
  • Great build quality
  • Light and incredibly easy to carry
  • Good internal layout
  • Silent operation
  • Modular system for installation
  • Lots of thumb screws
  • Three fans included
  • Matching drive bay covers included
  • Will fit large graphic card and power supply
  • PSU can be installed upward or traditional
  • Tricky installation
  • No drive LED can be seen
  • A few sharp edges
  • More expensive than other SFF offerings
  • Maximum motherboard size is MicroATX
The Thermaltake Lanbox is the most robust and LAN party friendly case out there. There is no other case out there, which has the handle and comfort when going to and from a LAN party. That said, expect a very tricky installation as there is nothing standard about this case. Besides the unique installation, it is really hard finding anything else wrong with this case. Thermaltake has once again built a case which pushes the limits and introduces new functionality for a computer case. There is really no reason not to get this case, if you want the best portability and can afford the price tag. There are other cases out there which are cheaper, but none that let you use a full size power supply and give you the portability the Thermaltake Lanbox offers. It deserves the Editor's Choice award no matter how you look at it.
