Thermaltake S300 TG Review - A Solid, Clean, and Understated Case

A Closer Look - Inside

To access the interior, simply remove the thumb screws and pull the panels off. The interior is quite spacious, and Thermaltake kept the area around the motherboard clear. Unlike the S500 TG, Thermaltake skipped the rubber grommet on the cable-routing holes around the motherboard, so your build may not look quite as clean in the end. While the shroud for the PSU bay also looks very similar, the S300 TG requires you to remove it to install the PSU because it does not come with the rear frame to slide it in through that opening.

On the opposite side, you will find two separate 2.5" hard drive mounts and the aforementioned opening you can screw a radiator to from inside the chassis. Any accompanying fans are then mounted straight to the side panel instead of the case frame.

In the bottom of the front is a single 3.5" cage with two trays, with a separate 2.5" tray on top of it. The entire front is meant for cooling, which becomes apparent once you remove the HDD cage. Naturally, you could keep this storage element by opting for a smaller radiator on the side.

In the rear, underneath the removable PSU shroud, you will find two foam bits on which your power supply will rest. There is loads of space, so even longer, more powerful units will easily fit. Above that are the seven expansion slots and reusable black covers, alongside the signature tray for two vertical PCIe components with the right optional accessories. The black 120 mm fan in the very top comes with a 3-pin connector and cable sleeving.

Taking a quick look at the ceiling, you can see the mounting holes for the fans or radiators. Far removed from the motherboard, you will not have to worry about these components bumping into each other.

All the cables within the Thermaltake S300 TG are of the default variety, so you should run into no surprises when assembling the system. Naturally, they are all sleeved black as you would expect, but are also immensely long for a case of this size. Thermaltake could easily shave off six inches on all of these without causing any issues.
