Value and Conclusion

  • The 32 GB (2x 16 GB) Thermaltake TOUGHRAM RGB 3200 MHz kit is available for around US$189.99.
  • Solid performance
  • Great RGB
  • Good software
  • RGB not for everyone
  • Not the best for overclocking
Thermaltake has done an excellent job with the design of the Thermaltake TOUGHRAM RGB. The build quality and packaging are excellent. The heat spreader is simple, effective, and attractive, and the new white finish is flawlessly executed. The "TT" logo integration as part of the design is an absolutely brilliant move. Speaking of RGB LEDs, the Thermaltake TOUGHRAM RGB still has a great implementation; a large diffusion bar with bright LEDs and a wide viewing angle. It has good stock lighting effects for those who eschew extra software and excellent software support for those who want it. The Thermaltake TOUGHRAM RGB is compatible with the lighting software from all four major motherboard vendors, although Thermaltake's own RGB software is a step ahead of all of them with a better interface and more granular control of the individual RGB LEDs.

Thermaltake didn't sacrifice performance in the name of fashion either as the Thermaltake TOUGHRAM RGB performed well in testing. For overclocking, the Thermaltake TOUGHRAM RGB proved to have some overclocking headroom, reaching 3333 MHz stable with both my test platforms. This particular specification did not overclock as well as the other TOUGHRAM samples I have tested, but if you like memory overclocking, the white finish is available for those specifications as well.

Finally, we come to the price. The Thermaltake TOUGHRAM RGB 3200 MHz comes in at US$189.99. That is a relatively high price for this specification; however, the aesthetic, build quality, performance, and RGB controls are excellent. If you are in the market for a 32 GB memory kit and budget is not your top priority, check out the Thermaltake TOUGHRAM RGB.
