Shape

Even though the dimensions provided by VAXEE suggest otherwise, the shape of the NP-01S Wireless is unchanged compared to the original, wired NP-01S. When compared to the NP-01, the shape of the NP-01S Wireless has been modified subtly, but in quite a few ways, resulting in a surprisingly different feel in hand. The greatest similarity is that much like the NP-01, the NP-01S Wireless has a right-handed ergonomic base and an ambidextrous top; i.e., when looking at it from the bottom, it looks like an ergo design, but when looking at it from the back, it resembles an ambidextrous one. Furthermore, the NP-01 and NP-01S Wireless share the same length. However, aside from being narrower than the NP-01 as a whole, the NP-01S Wireless has a lower and more, though not fully, centered hump, which gives the palm more breathing space. At the same time, the NP-01S Wireless still fills the palm more than, for example, the Zowie FK2 does. The hump extends across the entire width, creating a barely rounded plane. Additionally, the left side doesn't flare out as much, which has the back interfere with the palm even less. As a whole, it seems the design goal with the NP-01S Wireless was to allow for less palm contact without giving the mouse a tapered or otherwise pronounced hump, or making it more low-profile altogether. A successful undertaking, if I may add.

As for grip styles, I'd say the NP-01S Wireless mostly suits claw and fingertip grip, with palm grip possible at least. It is a medium-sized mouse with a mildly pronounced hump, which should make it generally suit most hand sizes. For reference, my hands are 19 cm long and 10 cm wide, and I found the NP-01S Wireless very comfortable in claw grip.

Dimensions

This table includes the dimensions of the VAXEE Zygen NP-01S Wireless and several other ambidextrous mice. "Front height" denotes the distance between the base and main buttons. Measurements with two decimals have been taken with a caliper, while those with one decimal have been taken with a ruler.
