Introduction

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is the latest game set in the Warhammer 40K universe. It is a sequel to the 2011 Space Marine, which didn't earn legendary status but became a cult classic for many Warhammer 40K fans.

Demetrian Titus reprises his role from the first game, this time tasked with stopping a Tyranid invasion of several planets under the control of the Imperium of Man. Space Marine 2 is a pure action game where you shoot and slash your way through zillions of Tyranids with a familiar arsenal of weapons and the help of two fellow Space Marines, which can be controlled by AI or online cooperative human players.

The game's gritty, bloody, and gory, with very fun combat where you're dealing metric tons of punishment in the name of The Emperor to filthy Xenos that will try their best to kill you and everyone around you. The level design trumps the original, both in scope and the number of enemies you face. That said, like in the original, levels are fairly linear but feel massive thanks to the engine used, which can place numerous fully active Tyranids on-screen simultaneously.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is published by Focus Home Entertainment and developed by Saber Interactive. The game is built with Sabre Interactive's in-house "Swarm" engine that doesn't match Unreal 5 in terms of visual fidelity but can render impressively huge enemy hordes on-screen, giving the game a unique visual identity. You won't find ray tracing here, nor frame-gen tech. On the other hand, you've got DLSS and FSR 2 upscaling.
