Packaging and Accessories

This is my first time with a WIZMAX product, although understandably the CALUX is one of their more expensive offerings. The unboxing experience is quite involved thus, including an external sleeve with the brand logo and product name along with a render of the keyboard on the front that matches the exact one you have inside, given the Cherry switches are also mentioned here. Product specs, mostly in Korean, are seen on the back with the inner box sliding out either side. This one is more generic, allowing WIZMAX to just swap out the sleeve for the Cherry or Gateron version. It is also here we get the keyboard specifications in English for those interested.

The thick upper pieces can be lifted to reveal some paperwork placed above the keyboard, with WIZMAX providing a note going over what CALUX means. We also get a large multi-language quick start guide that goes over the pre-programmed functions on the keyboard. I also appreciate the small touches everywhere, including a cutout making it easy for you to lift the keyboard from the box. Incidentally, the CALUX comes inside a hard acrylic cover that wraps around the keyboard sides too. There are also some foam gaskets for a good seal, making this an effective dust and protective cover for the keyboard when not in use.

The bottom layer contains the various accessories which again come in individually shaped compartments and labels. This includes a fancy cleaning brush with soft bristles, a USB Type-C to Type-A cable for connectivity and charging the internal battery, and an especially nice metal wire-style keycap puller tool with a machined metal body. WIZMAX also provides some spare keycaps—A/S/D/F/Enter/Space Bar—albeit these seem to be duplicates of the ones already installed on the keyboard, not sure why. Rounding off the unboxing experience is a set of three metal dust covers for a Type-C port, which is not something we usually see but will be handy for many no doubt.
