A Closer Look

The XPG Prime ARGB cables essentially ship curved, which should help you route them nicely while showing off the side with the LED strips. As with the Lian Li Strimer series, the XPG Prime cables employ a second layer that is attached to classic extension cables to illuminate things. The Prime cables are a bit stiffer, though, so routing them may be slightly more difficult.

At first sight, you will definitely notice the large connectors on both ends of the cable. They extend well beyond the dimensions of the 24-pin plug, which could cause problems if you have other I/O close to your motherboard ATX connector. I understand if the side with the LEDs requires extra room, thus making things larger, but the end connecting to the motherboard should be as compact as possible. The individual cables on the XPG Prime are of excellent quality, which translates into solid 16AWG wires, so you won't have to worry about any power delivery issues.

The tubes which the light diffuses into are pretty big as well. This is because these tubes actually wrap around the top layer of power delivery cables. A standard 3-pin ARGB connector for the controller or motherboard is attached to the functional housing of the cable.

The 8-pin cables are similarly curved and come with individual ARGB cables. This means you are meant to daisy chain these cables together to achieve a synchronized effect when using the supplied controller.

Interestingly enough, the housing for the four LED diffusing tubes is much more compact on the end connecting to the graphics card, making it barely bigger than the PCIe plug itself, which is an absolute requirement as many PCIe power connectors are right next to each other on graphics cards. That begs the question of why such a compact housing wasn't possible with the 24-pin variant. The same 16AWG wires in braided white sleeving have been employed here.

On the opposite end, the housing with the LEDs is actually a bit bigger, which is to be expected. This side does not only hold the LEDs but is also where the ARGB cable attaches.
