Value and Conclusion

  • The 16 GB (2x 8 GB) XPG SPECTRIX D50 Xtreme 5000 MHz kit is available for around US$849.99.
  • Great performance out of the box
  • Great aesthetics
  • No overclocking headroom
  • Price
The XPG SPECTRIX D50 Xtreme is a solid memory kit, both literally and figuratively. The heavy-duty aluminium heat spreader gives this kit an attractive neutral aesthetic as well as improved cooling. The triangular light bar cutout is unique but not overly intrusive, and the branding remains tastefully minimal.

The XPG SPECTRIX D50 Xtreme performed well in testing, but proved to have no overclocking headroom, which is likely due to the limitations of the CPU memory controller on my test systems. I had no issues tightening the timings to the "Fast" preset for Hynix D-die.

This specification of the XPG SPECTRIX D50 Xtreme is currently available for US$849.99. The XPG SPECTRIX D50 Xtreme is a monument to the progress of DDR4 and ADATA's excellent binning. The high price of the Xtreme makes the kit a hard sell, but this could be the kit for you if you are an overclocking enthusiast looking for the best memory bin or have deep pockets while looking to build a top-end Intel system.
