Zhiyun is a company that has been producing gimbals for smartphones, DSLRs, and action cameras since 2014. The Weebill-S is one of the smallest gimbals for not only mainstream but also higher-end cameras. It is lightweight and able to handle heavy camera-lens combos, like the Panasonic GH5 and front-heavy Sigma Art 18–35 mm. Additionally, Zhiyun's experience over the years has lead to many improvements in motor precision and power, as well as advanced algorithms that make a filmmaker's life easier. A fully automatic gimbal means spending less time adjusting it, which lets you proceed with shooting videos right away.

The new and improved TransMount image transmission module combines nicely with their ZY Play app for an abundance of features that will cover most user needs while enabling artistic shots that wouldn't be doable otherwise. With the ability to connect up to three devices to the gimbal for control, adjusting shooting modes and features of both the gimbal and the mounted camera is feasible. I am anxious to fully test this feature once the receiver and remote control become available. Moreover, the latches on each axis turn the gimbal into a camera stand and make it easier to stow away because it takes up even less space when folded.

Thanks to the numerous optional accessories provided by Zhiyun, you have plenty of options to cover every possible video-shooting scenario. Especially the monopod is a must-have for me since a heavy rig will eventually result in back pain otherwise, and it makes higher and lower shots easier. The company states that the Weebill-S has a runtime of 14 hours with fully charged batteries. However, keep in mind that the heavier the equipment, the less optimal your calibration might be, and the faster the batteries are drained.

This gimbal is far easier to use than its predecessors, and it is a fine upgrade if you have a camera that doesn't exceed 2 kg with its lenses and other accessories mounted. Should you want to use heavier camera combos, the Crane 3 LAB is the more suitable option since it can handle a higher payload.
