More Samsung 850 EVO SSD Details Emerge

More details emerged, of Samsung's next mainstream SSD, the 850 EVO. The drive will launch in five capacities, starting with 120 GB, and including 250 GB, 500 GB, 750 GB, and 1000 GB variants. Built in the 7 mm-thick, 2.5-inch, form-factor, with SATA 6 Gb/s interface, the drive will be based on Samsung's next-generation 3-bit 3D V-NAND chips, with an updated in-house made controller. The drive is now expected to launch some time in January, 2015. It will offer lower price-per-GB than the 850 Pro series, and slightly lower performance; targeting the mainstream market.

More of the same spec`s but pricing compared to the 840 evo is higher when it should be coming down in cost. Still give it 6 months to settle .

Somebody needs to at least attempt to compete with the MX100 series' price/performance. Right now there's no reason to recommend anything else unless a user requires stupendous write speeds.
