Lords of the Fallen Launches Today, Official Launch Trailer Released

Greetings Lampbearers. Today sees the launch of our biggest and most ambitious game ever, Lords of the Fallen! It's been an incredible journey for us across the company, especially for our fantastic developers at HEXWORKS, who have worked tirelessly for nearly four years to develop an incredible addition to the action-RPG genre, as well as all for our partners and everyone across CI Games who have supported driving Lords of the Fallen globally over the past few years.

Lords of the Fallen harnesses the cutting-edge power of Unreal Engine 5 - the first action-RPG to do so - to deliver what IGN describes as "An awesome soulslike with a fantastic dual-realities premise" that allows players to seamlessly transition from Axiom, the brutal and unforgiving world of the living, to Umbral, the nightmarish world of the dead.
This week has also seen the release of the Lords of the Fallen official soundtrack, in partnership with Laced Records. Available on music streaming platforms now, the launch of the 36-track album precedes the upcoming pre-order and release of a limited-edition triple LP set. The soundtrack, written by award-winning composers Cris Velasco (Bloodborne, Resident Evill VII: Biohazard) and Knut Avenstroup Haugen (Lords of the Fallen 2014, Conon Exiles) was recorded with the 80-piece Budapest Scoring Orchestra and Choir, together with soprano Eurielle, contralto Jess Dandy, and principal cellist of the London Symphony Orchestra, David Cohen.

HEXWORKS, a CI Games Studio, today revealed the Official Launch trailer for Lords of the Fallen, a two-minute-long harbinger of the action-RPG's highly-anticipated release this Friday (13th October) on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Set in the vast and interconnected land of Mournstead, Lords of the Fallen follows one of the fabled Lampbearers as they embark on an epic quest to stop the impending return of the demon god, Adyr. Today's trailer coincides with the final few days' availability for would-be Dark Crusaders to pre-order Lords of the Fallen on their platform of choice.

Humanity's final hope against Adyr and his hordes will traverse between the parallel worlds of the living (Axiom) and dead (Umbral) through the use of a mysterious and otherworldly lamp, overcome colossal and nightmarish monstrosities in both planes of existence, and can - when needed - work with another Crusader through the game's seamless, uninterrupted co-op.

This makes me think about how many people work on these games, even the ones that fail miserably have a large group behind them, it's a shame to see so many hours of work and capital without proper management/goal.

Which is why larger AAA titles tend to stick with what works. The larger the investment, the more a publisher / dev are going to play it safe to ensure a ROI.

Considering they hired such high tier composers, it comes naturally they will not shame themselves with subpar works. So if you hire a man for a job, you expect live orchestra as norm... with expenses with it comes. Not some student putting together samples in some pro tools, then got sued on potential copyright grounds.

Professional educated musicians are like agent 47 in their mindsets. They just do their job, execute prefectly their notes and call it a day. It ain't some improvisation jam or Frank Zappa style variation about the theme. We are too used to modern goofballs calling themselves musicians, that barely can button up their pants and even read notes.

They only know what works because companies in the past took chances with creativity. I understand the financial motivations about playing it safe, but it can become a catch 22 with new products. It's a bit like "No guts, no glory" kind of thing.

This is the strangest thing I've read in a while.
