I figured out it is because 9.09tb is counted in tebibytes = 9314tb. I filled the disk up over 2tb and all videos files seems to work. I guess 10 or 12tb disks is the most it can hanlde? Except from master that needs to be 2tb at most, or you have to partion the master boot. Can i insert more 10tb drives? From Hard Disk Sentinel: Helium value should be 25.

Great, workstations must be superior even if T3500 was a cheap model. 13 years old and can handle all that. I am new to this with bigger hard drives then 4tb. I have only had external. Does drives over 14tb takes more of the system? Requires more modern chips to read them?

So there is a myth about LBA 32 bit only being capable to write for 2tb. After i installed Intel Intel Rapid Storage Technology, v.10.1.0.1008, A00 it seems fine. It was for Windows 7 but it seems to work with Windows 8.1 pro to. The RST update should be for Alienware M11x R3. What Alienware has T3500?

You are probably right and my understanding of Dell manual was wrong...
late but here are some facts on T3610, most of this is secret, but top poster as speedstep at the real dell forum covered this but I took it to then end. with a jpg cheat sheet.
no dell was not wrong.!
The is not a PC it is a full blown Dell work station.
It is not ATX spec, (besides PCIe/ sata, etc)
the PSU and the mobo are 100 % not ATX in regards to DC power.
The PSU has no + 5vdc main rails or 3.3Vdc main rails at all.
those regulators are all on the main MOBO only. period.
The rules are by my list below that is just reverse engineered today form my T3610 12core Plex server ( have 3 now) one is R710 server.
There are 5 power supplies in the PSU not counting +5v(standby) each at 18amps (685watt version) they are not wired in parallel at all or very and if jump the PSU goes to max overload so don't.
The mobo jack and the adapter is not any kind of standard at all. (not ATX)
The the below shows ATX jack and ours is not wired like that at all.
The cable for the GPU Aux is not standard, at all, it is dell custom, see the 2missing pins that is your huge hint there, not standard
I traced it all out. ( mostly) I made this is I can diagnose power problems, the Aux GPU port is limited to 18amps current , over that the PSU shut s down fast, no fires, and is UL certified. do to that.
The max card that fits here is 11 to 12.5" long (longer with ODD cage pulled.)
The max amp GPU is this, (1 card gpu ) 18amps x12v = 216watts + the 75watts via the PCIe slot for 290watts max.total. shop wisely. Most GPU cards shut down if any of the 3 DC jacks die. or go weak or noisy.
now I will tell how SATA power works, as you can see the PSU has zero to do with 5vdc for sata (SSD or any things , the PCI legacy slot has 5vdc too)
the red wire at the mobo jack right, is sata 5v power. to all 4 sata connectors, mine has 6,with splitter.

the red wire has no dell spec. (on the Red wire) The mobo has a regulator for 5vdc onboard. not documented. but my guess is 15watts (per drive) x 3=45watts. HDD old used lots of current. SSD is 1amp each. ( all USB ports use 5vdc too) I bet there is more than one 5vdc regulator so if someone shorts out USB ports, the heads on drive don't crash)
So should be plenty of amps for sure SSD modern. drives. (100watts would be a good guess mobo total)
I have a RAID card in mine with SSD array, Adaptec ASR-71605 that has 1G cache and super cap and will not crash every time , we see AC power failures. (love it) (or buy a UPS)
that is it, if you want to hack it and not start a fire ask how?( I love all my Dell gear. )
if you need help? tell what you have now, then tell where you want to go 2nd. (endless possibles) .
good luck to all.

Hey what length screwdrived is needed to remove a Dell Precision T7810 heatsink? My iFixIt screwdrivers are too short.
use a ruler? all mine needed 5" blade. the hard ware store has endless sizes. (have over 100 screw drivers here and scads of torx.)
power off first.
or use wood ruler only to measure hot (power cord not pulled is hot). (plastic is ESD unsafe)

You need to take into account the 75W each PCIe MB connector provides for GPUs with no added power cable.
2x75W PCIe 16x slots, plus 2x 75W, 6 pin PCIe cables =300W total for 2 GPUs. Or 1x75W slot and 150W cable (2x6, or 1x8 pin)=225W single GPU. That's what the dell specification means. The T7610 doubles that.

So the MB cable provides 150W (2x75W 6 pin )officially. I'm not seeing 300W on that cable officially from Dell.
6+8 pin would be a 75W stretch. 8+8 pin would be double the rated power. The 300W 6+2(8) and 6+2(8) cable IS available, it's FOR Dell, but not FROM Dell. For the OP who just needs a few Watts over the rated 225W it's a good solution. But if you tried to run 2x225W 8 pin GPUs there's no guarantee it would work.

Here's something I found that may be useful. The computers using those 685W power supplies have a PSU card in between the PSU and the MB. The T5610 card has a 2nd CPU 8 pin connector.
View attachment 155739
The extra CPU connector could be adapted to power a bigger GPU.
The T3610 card doesn't have that extra connector. It should also allow the T5610 optional 825W PSU. But w/o the 2nd CPU probably not needed. Warning- The CPU 8 pin pinout is not at all like the PCIe 8 pin. Don't plug the same cable into it.

this last photo is a ATX drawing that have zero to do with any DELL T3600 or its cousins.
zero.
dell wired it all custom, have hard proof, not a guess, pure facts.
the aux cable dell is 18amps max, it has its own 12vdc rail.
216 watts max, the GPU slot is 75 so 291 max for the car. 1 card.gpm
2missing pins
3 grounds
and 3yellow +12vdc
and no sense pins on the dell.
the GPU card is ATX spec, and works using the real dell GPU cable. from them.
the real danger happens not using the real PSU from dell.
there are 3 kinds of hacks seen
  1. wrong PSU hacks (not easy, I know how but know better) leaving home with a hacked PSU running is brave .
  2. Bit coin madness ( 10 + GPU's or more )
  3. and running a GPU card over 291watts, (2 cards forget it) my MSI R9 380 runs here. have one. (but is not used now)Radeon
the hard part is getting 5v stand by to the right pin. ( custom pin here)
and power _ok pin.
and some dell PSU wrong (yes seen it) have +12vdc Standby and when connected to the T3610 blows the C602 chip to kingdom come, easy as snapping fingers. wrong.
i have not fully reverse engineered the mobo jack called power. yet.
no need to me. but could if I wanted to.
good luck , the 3610 is fine work station, and can game with the limits of 18amps from GPU aux. if overloaded the PC will crash.

As far as I know, Dell has a specific bios, which does not allow applications outside the Dell whitelist to read any information about the computer (motherboard, processor, ram, etc.). Since I have a Dell computer, no program sees the ECC reg. memory or any information about the system disk (if the bootable disk is SSD or NVME) other than the name and capacity. You don't need to worry if the computer is working normally.
My t3600 has most of the sensors I need... even Linux works w em n I can have Taskbar applets that show me the Temps

Oh and BTW @lexluthermiester told me I can do a huge cpu upgrade after a bios upgrade to a 10c20t 3.6ghz from my 8c16t 2ghz so I'm excited to do that on my t3600 and be able to make more complex music and synth patches!!

will do... wont till january tho got too much going on and gotta have enough to replace the system if the bios upgrade bricks it cuz the bios is a bit shaky and sometimes will crash trying to change settings.

or it might fix it... dunno... but gotta save up at least 300 some to get a new system...in case shtf

And if it doesn't work, I will buy you a 2690(which is Dell qualified). Keep me posted!
Oh... are the bios upgrades all inclusive to where I don't have to incrementally upgrade or can I just dl the latest one and it has all the other fixes??

revised,, T3610 only, yes other models have 2nd GPU AUX power pin,
note the huge ATX divergences changes,
now if something fails here you can discover why.
I can't as of yet edit my posts to do updates.

Cool

btw which version added that v2 cpu support... someone else asked this and I can't find where it mentioned it on dell's site....
It doesn't mention the V2 spec specifically. Just "CPU microcode". It was testing that showed the V2's were added. The C602 chipset is 100% compatible with and specifically designed for the V2 line of Xeons.

OK!!! IM ALLREADY ON A17!!! just checked! it still freezes on the bios screens tho... wondering if going to A18 will fix it...
By "freezes on the bios screen" what do you mean? Is it freezing completely, or just momentarily and then keeps going?

it will hard lockup in the bios screens randomly... and I have to hold down the power button to get back into bios to change stuff n I have to be very quick before it does it again

Ok, you might be having another issue unrelared to the BIOS version. Have you tested your RAM?

You might want to test your ram for errors and if none are found do some trouble shooting to see if a component might be going bad.
Yeah... sometimes the whole system hard locks up in bitwig and I look at journalctl and right before that happens there's Nvidia errors in red text...

But it locks up in bios every time almost... it's strange

Given what you've just said, I would do some ram testing, stick by stick. It's a bit involved but worth it.

Precision T7610 owner here. It's been my main rig since forever. Getting a little long in the tooth (dual Ivy-Bridge Xeons) but handles all my modest gaming needs without issue, a RTX 3060 helps :)
It's been upgraded to about the max it can get without breaking the bank (sadly, no 512GB RAM for me, have to make due with 64), has 2 4x-nVME PCIe adapters, booting fro one, 4x4TB SAS HDDs and a smattering of old 2.5" SSDs that I haven't gotten around to replacing/pulling out.
PCIe wifi card, PCI FireWire card (for an old camcorder) using the internal USB for an off-white LED light strip, a multi-card reader and functioning DVD-RW.
Used to run Windows 9 until it recently went out of support, reluctantly when to Windows 10 LTSC
