Just installed my brand new Christmas present to myself a 5800X3D and my FPS result in Hogwarts Legacy paired with the 6750 XT...........didnt change at all :(
The 6750 XT is still GPU limited even with an older CPU. Don't be sad, the extra cache will come in handy after a GPU upgrade. :)

Well, what else to be expected?

This game is definitely not CPU intensive by today's standards.

Went back to the stock cooler but this just sucks. I suppose I could try liquid metal, just need to be hella careful for those SMDs around the GPU die.

Just cover them with nail polish. About 7 layers is more than sufficient. I rock my GPU like that and it's flawless.

Sucks that I don't currently have a chick who could borrow some and buying some would feel weird. Can I cover those with thermal paste?

100C max hotspot and new best at Time Spy though:

Agreed. My reference 6750 XT runs with 105 °C hotspot without any issues.
And my GPU is hard chilling. I really wish I had its voltage unlocked or something. Wouldn't mind having more FPS.

This was recorded after ~45 minutes of playing Cyberpunk 2077 + RT.

LMAO at those stats on your OSD  I run mine at 1.05V and 2600-2700MHz set via the Radeon software.

This one results in an immediate crash when I launch anything remotely resembling a 3D application no matter what frequencies I use. Either I lost in the silicon lottery or it's a very weird BIOS on my XFX card. I'm almost sure it's the 2nd one because I see wattages significantly higher on other 6700 XTs.

I probably could go even lower if I'd run the GPU at stock clocks. I guess mine is a semiwhat ok sample but its stock cooler just sucks.

Laughing reaction smiley is for your stat names, not the values. :D

Those temps are the exact same ones my 7800 XT is running at when fully loaded. That's the difference between a Sapphire Pulse and an AMD reference, I guess.

Tried crossflashing via Kali Linux.

Successfully flashed my XFX SWFT309 to be an "ASUS ROG STRIX" kinda impostor.
Then, I decided "why not" and flashed some 6750 XT BIOS and it bricked my GPU.

Fortunately, after about a dozen attempts to boot with a brick as a secondary GPU, I managed to flash it back to normal. Works as nothing happened besides...

I started playing Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition for the first time. It certainly pushes my 6750xt to its limits. Ultra settings with ray tracing on runs over 60 fps most of the time but sometimes drops to 45 fps. My cpu is so unused that my cpu cooling fans aren't even turning on.

I use this as my main profile for gaming. It is undervolted maxed out memory and maxed out wattage. Fan profile is not bad if I need more 54% is a good setting. Then I go back to my stock settings. Usually hit about 50-53 degrees and hotspot 60-65.

Since I now have a reason to overclock, I did some testing.

I can reduce voltage slider to 1100mv with max frequency set at 2750mhz. VRAM wont clock higher than 2288mhz even if I set the max higher.

The max frequency does not get too far over 2700mhz. I seem to be temperature limited rather than the gpu not being able to clock higher.

The 6750xt model I have is MSI's lowest end option. The temperature difference between 65% fan and 100% fan is 2c. I suspect the cooler could dissipate more heat if the heat transfer was better.

My OC settings are 4% faster than stock. If I had better cooling maybe I could get 2800mhz stable which would be another 3% which isn't much. The! 6750xt is more or less a stock overclocked 6700xt.

Did you max out your wattage slider. Also You should be able to get the memory set to 2312 to make it set to 2300. Also about 2715 is about the max your going to get when undervolting so I set mine to either 2700 or 2705 depends on the game. But I do like the new temperature drops.

My wattage slider is -6% to 0%. It defaults to max. This is because it is a low end version.
I can set the memory to 2312 but it won't run faster than 2288.
I was undervolting because that was increasing the frequency. I assume the frequency was increasing because the temperature was improving.

Well when undervolting you need to slide to wattage to max if possible. Then set the min to 500 mhz the max to 2700-2710. Voltage to 1150-1140. I had posted earlier on my 6750XT. The settings I have been playing with is about a good balance point. Not sure if it will help. I do notice better performance and runs cooler and so far for me stable. And I have been using only the Adrenaline Software only no third party tweaks.

I've been using my 7700 XT for so long that my 6xx0 memory is fading a bit even though I own 3 of them. However I was under the impression that also setting a minimum frequency about 5-800 MHz below your chosen max should keep the core voltages a bit higher under low demand in order to prevent crashes due to too low voltage. I know the 7700 XT works this way in practice and I think I was doing the same with my 6700 XT.

I assure you that my wattage is at the maximum allowed. I get measurably better performance when voltage is set to 1100 rather than 1150. I am also using the adrenaline software. Every 25mv I decreased voltage from 1200mv gained me 200 points for with the time spy benchmark until I reached 1050mv.

1050mv was too unstable to benchmark.
1075mv was benchmark stable but crashed during stability testing.
1100mhz has so far proven stable.

I think my gpu would burst further if I had better cooling. I recently repasted which did help with noise. My cooler is just 3 heat pipes like old budget cpu coolers. I don't think the heat pipes are able to pull enough heat. I was considering getting some ptm7950 but that is rather expensive for little gain.

I have read many people say setting the minimum frequency to 100 below your max frequency improves performance. The YouTube Jay guy said he had worse performance with his 7900xtx with minimum frequency to 100 below max frequency but had improvement at 2000mhz minimum frequency. Some people said that setting a higher minimum frequency fixed some hitching they had in VR. I have not seen any strong consensus if a higher minimum frequency actually improves performance.

I tested in 200mhz increments from 1000mhz upto 2600mhz and I saw no performance improvement as measured by TimeSpy benchmark and Metro Exodus Benchmark.

Yes this was not for performance reasons (though if you snoop your GPU frequencies in GPU-Z, they are a little more consistent), rather it's for stability under light load if you're going for a max OC/UV, including just at the desktop. I swap between very light 2D and heavy 3D games and setting the core frequencies to 2000 MHz min and 2700 max seems to improve stability overall vs. setting it to 100 min and 2700 max, all other settings the same.

Yeah I can't seem to go below 1145mv or mine get's unstable. And that sucks that you can't go the 15+ on the wattage slider. Also the memory thing sucks as well. I mean I am still playing with the undervolting on this card. Now my cooler is pretty decent as I can go at 44%. At 53% fan speed it does a great job noise is not unbearable. Now if I crank it up well then it's a dust buster going off and annoying.

The cooler is effective enough to keep the gpu operating at slightly better than stock speeds quietly. The fans don't need to spin more than 65% to get maximum cooling. Although I wish it was better at cooling, it really could be worse.

I don't know what I was thinking but I checked and I HAD NOT re-pasted my GPU. I cleaned up the stock paste and applied some MX-4 I had around. Hotspot temps decreased approximately 5c under load but clocks did not increase. I suspect that rather than being temperature limited, by decreasing the voltage was allowing it to push its meager power envelope a little further.

I have also come to the conclusion that 2200mhz is the sweet spot for efficiency. That is measured by taking the Timespy gpu score divided by the power usage reported in GPUz. I am going to set my day to day clock speed with a per-game overclock for the games that need it.

I don't suppose there is a way to edit the vbios to increase that power limit is there? I haven't edited vbios since AMD 6950.
