Equipped with all the essentials that professionals and remote workers need, these new models will help users stay connected while improving their productivity, all at a competitive price. The Philips 24E1N1100A and 27E1N1100A are both equipped with a 23.8" (60.5 cm) and a 27" (68.6 cm) respectively FHD IPS panels with a frameless design, narrow borders for multi-monitor setups, and a cable management system for a clean and organized workspace.

In addition, both models come with a pair of built-in high-quality 2 W stereo speakers to ensure a complete multimedia experience. This new addition to Cooler Master's lineup is designed to offer a high-value option for gamers, professionals, and everyday users seeking to enhance their digital experience without breaking the bank. Cooler Master Raises the Bar for Entry Level Monitors with GA2501

Cooler Master introduced the GA2501, its most affordable monitor, which is expected to raise the bar for what constitutes entry-level. This 24.5-inch planar monitor covers all the basics, but with a premium-looking design that doesn't come across as cheap. The monitor offers a Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution using an IPS panel, that offers 84% coverage of DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB; and 109% coverage of sRGB. Vital specs of this Full HD IPS panel include 1 ms (GTG) response time, 100 Hz refresh rate, 250 nits maximum brightness, and 1500:1 static contrast ratio. As it's an IPS panel, you of course get 178°/178° viewing angles. The panel is embedded into a 3-side thin bezel body.

There are two very interesting aspects about this monitor. Firstly, its connectivity that includes an HDMI and a D-Sub—that's right, you get legacy analog connectivity with this monitor. With this, you can have the native resolution, but at a reduced 75 Hz refresh rate. A D-Sub cable isn't included in the box, though. What is included, is an HDMI cable, since this is the monitor's sole digital input, and you need it for the full 100 Hz refresh rate. And now, the second very interesting aspect about this monitor is its price. In Europe, the Cooler Master GA2501 is selling for just 110€, including taxes. How's that for an entry-level product?

Global Monitor Market Set for Recovery in 2024, with Shipments Projected to Increase by 2%

TrendForce's latest findings reveal global monitor shipments declined 7.3% in 2023 down to 125 million units—a figure below pre-pandemic levels. Looking ahead to 2024, given the low shipment base in 2023, alongside the potential for a gradual economic recovery and the typical 4 to 5-year PC replacement cycle, PCs purchased during the pandemic are expected to be upgraded between the second half of 2024 and 2025. This is anticipated to drive a 2% increase in global monitor shipments in 2024, reaching approximately 128 million units.

The top three commercial monitor brands experienced over twenty percent decline in shipments
A surge in unfulfilled business orders in Europe and America in the first half of 2022 elevated the shipment baseline for commercial brands that year. However, by 2023, commercial market demand saw a significant contraction, leading to a YoY shipment decrease of 20.4% for Dell, 20.7% for HP, and 21.4% for Lenovo—each dropping by over twenty percent.

Shipments of Gaming Monitors Fell to 19.8 Million Units in 2022, Expected to Recover in 2023

TrendForce's latest research revealed that shipments of gaming monitors have seen their first decline since 2016 due to high inflation, resulting in only 19.8 million units being shipped in 2022 for a 13% YoY decline. TrendForce predicts that demand should recover in 2023 however, jumping back up to 20.8 million units—an increase of 5% YoY. This recovery will mostly be driven by three factors: First, a number of brands are replacing their 75 Hz models with 100 Hz models. Second, the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games is scheduled to take place in the third quarter, where Esports is set to be one of the competing categories. This will help drive up demand for gaming products. Lastly, China has finally begun lifting COVID restrictions, which means demand for Internet cafes should gradually recover.

TrendForce reveals that vertical alignment (VA) LCD monitors took the lion's share of the market in 2022 at 51%. This was followed by in-plane switching (IPS) LCD monitors at 43.4%, and finally twisted nematic (TN) LCD monitors accounted for 5%. However, it's worth noting that OLED gaming monitors have grown in popularity, taking 0.6% of the market share in 2022. Thanks to the diversification of OLED products, that market share is expected to grow to 1.6% in 2023. Furthermore, TrendForce predicts that IPS monitors may begin competing with VA monitors given that not only are IPS products increasing their market share but many IPS gaming monitors are seeing a continuous price reduction.

Gaming Monitor Market Faces Inaugural Downturn with 2022 Shipments Downgraded to 20.5 Million Units

According to the latest TrendForce research, shipments of gaming monitors are in decline for the first time since the product category was launched to market, with 2022 estimates lowered to 20.5 million units, a 10% drop YoY. The primary reasons for this downgrade are intensifying inflation in Europe and spiking interest rates in North America which have upset and displaced demand for consumer electronics products. In addition, delays in launching high-end graphics cards has also led some e-sports consumers to consider postponing purchases.

According to TrendForce, judging from the market share of flat and curved gaming monitors, curved gaming surfaces accounted for approximately 41% of the market in 2021. In 2022, this share will increase to 44% and is expected to have a chance to reach 46% in 2023. In addition to an increased supply of curved monitor panels and their high price-performance ratio, growth in the market share of Ultra-Wide products is also one of the reasons for the rise of curved products.

ASRock is Expected to Launch Multiple Gaming Monitors

Several new ASRock products have passed through the KCC, which is the Korean equivalent of the FCC and normally this would be a new motherboard or maybe some small form factor system, but surprisingly enough, we're looking at gaming monitors. The leak comes courtesy of @momomo_us who's dug up a lot of juicy details on two of the models, whereas we only know the basic specs for the other models. First up, we have the PG34WQ15R, which is a 34-inch curved VA display with a 3440x1440 resolution. It supports FreeSync Premium and has a refresh rate range of 48 to 165 Hz over DisplayPort and 48-100 Hz over HDMI, which seems to be an HDMI 1.4 limitation. The next model is the PG27FF, which is a regular 1080p IPS display that also supports FreeSync Premium, here with a refresh rate range of 48 to 165 Hz over both DP and HDMI. There appears to be multiple sub SKUs of this model, but all start with PG27F.

Then we have the PG32QF, which should be a flat 32-inch display, with unknown specs, but the Q in the model name suggests that it's a 1440p monitor. Finally we have the PG42U, where the U in the model name suggests it's a 4K 42-inch display. The stand looks nearly identical to the one ASUS uses for its ROG Strix XG43UQ 4K screen and the specs are likely to be quite similar too, which means we might see support for 144 Hz or higher refresh rates. All four displays are manufactured by TPV Technology, which produces its own monitors under the AOC, Envision and Philips brands. It's unknown when these new monitors from ASRock will launch, but considering they've passed through certification, it's highly likely that they'll turn up sometime later this year.

Dell Launches 34-inch Curved USB-C Monitor

Dell has been on something of a roll when it comes to launching new monitor models this year and its latest addition is an office focused curved 34-inch model with a 3440x1440 resolution. The S3423DWC as the model is called, sports a VA panel with a 300 cd/m² brightness, a 3000:1 contrast ratio and a colour gamut capable of 99 percent of the sRGB colour space. Although it's an office focused display, the good news here is that it has 100 Hz refresh rate and a 4 ms response time, which is quite unusual for its target market. AMD FreeSync is also supported, although there's no mention of the frequency range.

Connectivity-wise the main selling point is its single USB-C port that also has support for DP 1.4 Alt Mode as well as USB PD up to 65 W. Furthermore it has two HDMI 2.0 ports, a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-B input and two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, of which one can deliver 10 W of power for charging. Thanks to the two USB inputs, the display can function as a KVM and it also supports Picture-by-Picture and Picture-in-Picture when more than one input is being used. Dell also integrated a pair of 5 W speakers, but it seems like audio input is only via HDMI or USB, as the 3.5 mm jack on the rear of the display is apparently only for audio output. The stand is height adjustable, but due to this being an ultra-widescreen display, it can't be rotated. Dell claims that the plastic used contains at least 25 percent recycled materials. The S3423DWC is available in the APAC region now, although the US and European retail price should be around US$/€689 once it launches there.

ASUS Republic of Gamers Announces Moonlight White Gaming Peripherals

ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) today announced an all-new gaming peripherals lineup that channels the minimalist feel of monochrome through a striking Moonlight White color scheme. The ROG Strix Scope NX TKL 80%, tenkeyless mechanical RGB gaming keyboard, ROG Strix Impact II ambidextrous gaming mouse, ROG Strix Go Core gaming headset and ROG Cetra II Core in-ear gaming headphones are all now available in North America in this stunning colorway.

ROG has a long history of weaving Aura Sync into a huge ecosystem of devices to let gamers shine a light on their personalities through their gear - but many players also seek a minimalist look. That's why the ROG color palette is expanding to include the Moonlight White series, providing a commanding counterpart to the signature red-and-black color scheme.

HP Announces Pair of New USB-C Monitors for Productivity

Slowly but surely, USB-C seems to be gaining popularity with the display makers and HP's most recent offerings, the U32 4K HDR monitor and the M34d WQHD curved monitor both feature USB-C ports with DP Alt mode and 65 W power delivery. As the product name implies, the U32 sports a 3840x2160 pixel resolution at 60 Hz and the M34d comes in at 3440x1440 pixels, although here you get a variable refresh rate of 48-100 Hz.

The U32 comes with a 31.5-inch 10-bit (8-bit + FRC) IPS panel with what we presume is a peak brightness of 400 nits and a contrast ratio of 1000:1. Connectivity consists of a DP 1.2 port, an HDMI 2.0 port, the aforementioned USB-C port, three USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports (aka USB 3.0) and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. The U32 uses an external power brick, so there's also a barrel plug type power jack.

Philips Introduces the 346P1CRH Monitor: 34" VA, 3440x1440, 100 Hz, 4 ms, Vesa DisplayHDR 400
