Asustor Launches ADM 2.1 Beta Program

ASUSTOR Announces Compatibility with 3 New WD Red NAS Hard Drives

ASUSTOR Launches AS 3 Series NAS

ASUSTOR Inc., a leading innovator and provider of network storage solutions, has announced the launch of its brand new AS 3 Series Network Attached Storage (NAS). The AS 3 Series NAS devices feature powerful multimedia applications including support for 1080p high definition video playback and are the first devices in its class to come equipped with Intel Atom 1.6 GHz dual-core processors along with 1 GB of DDR3 memory. The devices in this new series consist of the 2-bay AS-302T model and the 4-bay AS-304T model. All devices boast a wealth of power saving features including internal and external disk hibernation, Night Mode and System Sleep Mode (S3). During System Sleep Mode, only 0.8 W of power is consumed, helping users to save a significant amount of energy.

With respect to hardware, the AS 3 Series was designed with multimedia and home cloud server applications in mind. In addition to its HDMI interface inherited from ASUSTOR's AS 6 Series, the AS 3 Series features an infrared receiver and 3.5 mm audio jack giving users added convenience and flexibility for multimedia applications. After installing the XBMC multimedia player App from ASUSTOR's App Central, users will be able to use the HDMI interface to play audio and video from the NAS directly to any HDMI ready display. Further pairing XBMC with the ASUSTOR remote control (optional purchase) will allow users to freely and conveniently control all multimedia playback from their NAS. Asustor Implements Atom CE5315 SoC with 3-Series NAS

Asustor displayed its first consumer NAS devices implementing Intel's recently announced Atom CE5315 SoC. The new model fill into the company's 3-series. On display at CeBIT are the 2-bay AS-302T and 4-bay AS-304T. The two are positioned a notch below the 2 GHz Atom dual-core powered AS-602T and AS-604T. The two feature single gigabit Ethernet interfaces, a couple of USB 3.0 and USB 2.0/1.1 ports, and HDMI display outputs. The company's ADM 1.0 "Dolphin" interface is standard issue. The two are expected to launch some time in June.

Intel Introduces Atom CE5300 SoC for Consumer NAS Servers

With consumers increasingly sharing and viewing content among different devices, Intel Corporation today introduced storage solutions based on the Intel Atom media processor CE5300 series. The new low power system-on-chip (SoC) enables high definition (HD) video to be simultaneously watched on smartphones, tablets and other smart devices, in real time, while also shared with consumer devices such as a Smart TV. "Streaming content across numerous mobile devices, not just from the cloud but locally, has become a common practice for today's consumers," said Bev Crair, general manager, of Intel's Storage Division. "New storage solutions based on the Intel Atom CE5300 series elevate this to a whole new level by making it simple to 'browse, click, and play'. The new SoC provides an excellent foundation for creating compelling entertainment experiences."

The powerful, dual-core Intel Atom CE5300 series delivers simple application and I/O support, making it ideal for synchronizing and streaming video content without compromising power for the performance necessary to allow seamless I/O and media transcoding. Storage solutions based on the Intel Atom CE5300 series allow consumers to easily set up all of their media in one place and avoid capacity limitations of mobile devices. They can use their storage system either as an iTunes server or DLNA (Digital Network Living Alliance) media server, and access that content from their mobile device of choice. Users can also simultaneously transcode 1080p video content to a smartphone, tablet, TV, Ultrabook or other smart device. The media processor system intelligently adapts to the screen resolution for each of these devices.

ASUSTOR Releases Enterprise-Level Rackmount NAS

ASUSTOR Inc., a leading innovator and provider of network storage solutions, today announced the release of four new enterprise-level 1U and 2U rackmount NAS devices. These new devices consist of the four drive bay AS-604RS and AS-604RD models and the nine drive bay AS-609RS and AS-609RD models. All devices come equipped with the Intel Atom 2.13 GHz dual-core processor which combines supercharged performance with low power consumption. Furthermore, all devices are verified as VMware, Citrix and Hyper-V ready, providing businesses with a flexible and cost-efficient virtual storage solution.

ASUStor Unveils its First Rackmount NAS Servers

Following its debut with more consumer-friendly 6-series NAS servers in the desktop form-factor, ASUStor is ready with its next line, which includes rackmount 4- and 9-bay NAS servers, targeting SMBs and enterprises. The two were exhibited at CES. Both models are based on the Intel Atom platform, featuring at least two gigabit Ethernet interfaces, some additional eSATA and USB 3.0 ports, and the 9-bay model even featuring redundant power supply. The two are based on ASUStor's ADM 1.0 software, which provides a third-party software environment for sysadmins to develop and deploy, specific to their setups.

ASUSTOR Launches Live Demo Site for ADM 1.0

ASUSTOR Inc. , a leading innovator and provider of network storage solutions, has announced today the launch of a new live demo site for users to test ASUSTOR Data Master (ADM) 1.0, ASUSTOR's in-house developed NAS operating system. ASUSTOR Data Master (ADM) 1.0 comes pre-installed on all AS 6 Series NAS devices, which were officially launched in November 2012. Gigabyte Announces its First Consumer NAS

Following ASUS' venture into the consumer NAS segment as ASUStor, Gigabyte responded with its own. The company launched its Home NAS family with the GR-EZI04H, a 4-bay consumer NAS based on the Intel Atom platform. Pictured below, it uses a common desktop cube form-factor, with a main lockable door covering its four caddies.

Gigabyte used an interesting combination of hardware. It combined a current-generation Atom D2500 dual-core processor clocked at 1.80 GHz, with an old (yet effective) ICH10R southbridge, instead of the usual NM10 PCH. The ICH10R has been used on high-end Intel 4-series and 5-series platforms, and provides six SATA 3 Gb/s ports with RAID 0/5/10. The GR-EZI04H features two gigabit Ethernet ports, two USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0/1.1 ports, and a VGA display output. Its OS, a choice between Windows Home Server 2011 and Embedded Linux, is stored on an mPCIe DOM. Gigabyte used a custom NAS management software that isn't extensively detailed, but features a standard feature-set. More details are awaited.

ASUSTOR Launches AS 6 Series NAS

The AS 6 Series NAS devices come in two, four, six and eight-bay models and feature System Sleep Mode (S3) along with near instantaneous wake up times. Equipped with the Intel Atom 2.13 GHz dual-core processor and 1GB RAM (expandable), the 6 Series combines supercharged performance with low power consumption. Intel technology also makes it possible for the devices to boast HDMI outputs which allows for the playing of HD video and multimedia directly to HDMI ready displays.
