VIA Announces New System-on-Module Solutions

VIA Technologies, Inc, a leading innovator of power efficient x86 processor platforms, today announced the two latest VIA modules in the growing VIA Modular Solutions portfolio, the VIA COMe-8X92 and the VIA QSM-8Q90. Measuring 95mm x 95mm, the VIA COMe-8X92 is based on the industry standard Computer-on-Module (COM) Express Compact form factor, developed and maintained by the PICMG (PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturers Group). Manli Unveils Elite Mini PC

Manli, a brand owned by PC Partner, showed off its latest mini-PC, the Elite. Driven by AMD E-450 "Brazos" APU, the Elite is a barebone, that requires you to add the memory (a single DDR3-SODIMM slot is available), and storage (a 2.5-inch drive with SATA 6 Gb/s connection available). Pre-configured models with 2 GB memory and 320 GB HDD are available in select markets. Connectivity includes two USB 2.0 ports, two USB 3.0 ports, a DisplayPort and HDMI connector for display, an eSATA port, Gigabit Ethernet, a multi-format card reader, audio jacks and built in 802.11b/g/n WLAN.

TUL Readies Barebones Mini PC

PowerColor's parent company, TUL, showed off its barebones Mini-PC at CES. Its main unit measures just 165 x 165 x 55 mm (LxWxH), and is available in black and white color options. Under the hood is an AMD G-Series embedded APU, backed by Hudson M1 FCH chipset. It takes in 1 DDR3-SODIMM module, up to 4 GB in size, and runs it at speeds of up to PC3-8500 (DDR3-1066 MHz). The G-Series APU provides AMD Radeon HD 6310 graphics, with DVI and HDMI display outputs. The mini PC barebone has room for one 2.5-inch SATA 6 Gb/s drive. Its front-panel offers one USB 2.0 port (USB 3.0 can be opted for), a multi-format card reader, and eSATA 6 Gb/s. Its rear panel connectivity includes 2-channel audio outputs, gigabit Ethernet, four USB ports, and display connectivity. The unit has an internal 40W PSU.

Stealth Introduces New Low Powered Mini PC for Embedded and In-Vehicle Applications

TEAM Shows Xtreemly Fast Memory Modules

TEAM Group, of the TEAM Xtreem fame, showed us its latest generation of ultra-high end DDR3 memory modules for overclocking. The theme for this year is LV (low-voltage) modules, which can do their rated DRAM speeds at 1.35V voltage. We begin with TEAM Xtreem DDR3-2400 MHz and TEAM Xtreem DDR3-2000 MHz, which come in 2 GB and 4 GB module capacities, and in triple-channel and dual-channel kits. These kits are the top of the line that TEAM has, to offer.

Moving on, there's a second line of memory kits for the performance segment, also LV (low-voltage, 1.35V), called TEAM Xtreem Dark series, which offer speeds of DDR3-1600 MHz, and use slightly smaller heatsinks. These modules come in 2, 4 GB capacities, and in dual and triple channel kits. Next up is the TEAM Green series, that are bare modules without heatsinks, that do JEDEC standard DDR3-1333 MHz and DDR3-1600 MHz at 1.35V, with loose timings. Lastly, there's a performance line of SODIMM modules for Apple Macs, the TEAM Mac SODIMM, which runs at DDR3-1333 and DDR3-1066 MHz speeds, offering 2 GB and 4 GB module capacities.

Hynix Semiconductor Inc. PowerColor Readies Entry-Level AMD Brazos Mini-ITX Motherboard

PowerColor is ready with its mini-ITX motherboard based on the AMD "Brazos" platform. The unnamed motherboard that is yet to get its heatsink(s) on, uses an AMD Fusion "Zacate" E-350 APU that embeds a dual-core x86-64 processor clocked at 1.60 GHz, and an AMD Radeon HD 6310 DirectX 11 compliant GPU. The APU is wired to two DDR3 SODIMM slots (notebook memory). Power is drawn in from a standard 24-pin ATX connector. The lone expansion slot is a PCI-Express 2.0 x4 with an open-end (to let you fit x16 graphics cards).

Storage connectivity includes four internal SATA 3 Gb/s, other features include 8-channel HD audio with optical SPDIF output, gigabit Ethernet, two USB 3.0 and a number of USB 2.0 ports. Display outputs include DVI and D-Sub. The motherboard is best suited for entry-level home PCs and office PCs.

A-Data Intros XPG Gaming Series 4 GB DDR3-1600 SODIMM Module

A-Data expanded its high-performance notebook memory lineup with a new XPG Gaming Series DDR3 SODIMM module that's capable of PC3-12800 specifications, with low DRAM voltage. The 4 gigabyte module can operate at DDR3-1600 MHz speeds with latencies of 9-9-9-24, and voltage ranging between 1.35V and 1.4V. The module packs its PC3-12800 settings into an XMP profile, which can be activated on notebooks that support XMP. It is available as a 4 GB single piece, or in an 8 GB (2x 4 GB) dual-channel kit. The company did not give out pricing information.

Micron Introduces New Memory Device Supporting Intel Processor-Based Tablets, Netbook

ASUS Packs a Load Onto Mini-ITX for AMD Users

The ASUS M4A88T-I Deluxe, as it is called, supports AM3 processors, probably with a TDP limited at 95W or 125W, and supports up to 8 GB of dual-channel DDR3 memory using SODIMMs (laptop memory). Connectivity includes 6-channel HD audio with optical and coaxial SPDIF output, WiFi b/g/n, gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0, and display connectivity which includes DVI and HDMI (with 7.1 channel HDMI audio). The SB710 comes with the unintended functionality of unlocking disabled cores on some processors.

DFI Announces LR100-N16M Fanless Mini-ITX ATOM N450 Motherboard

DFI has announced a new mini-ITX form factor motherboard in the LR100-N16M which offers low power consumption, higher-performance, and fanless cooling. This board utilizes the latest two-chip Intel Atom processor N450 and Intel 82801HM I/O Controller (also referred to as "ICH8M") system solution. Hynix Semiconductor, Inc. has announced the Intel validation of 2Gb (Gigabit) DDR3 DRAM using 40nm class process technology.

Hynix's newly validated products are 2Gb DDR3 SDRAM component, 4GB (Gigabyte) DDR3 SODIMM (Small Outline Dual In-line Memory Module) and 2GB DDR3 UDIMM (Un-buffered Dual In-line Memory Module) at the operating speed of 1333MHz with 1.5V power supply.

The products can offer the maximum data transfer speed of 1867MHz with 16-bit I/O and 3.7GB/s (Gigabytes per second) bandwidth. The productivity of Hynix's 40nm class 2Gb DDR3 is increased by more than 60% over 50nm class process technology.
