Introduction

DUNU Logo

DUNU is a quickly growing audio company with roots in China and Taiwan and offices in the West to handle everything from design and production to distribution and marketing. The company started out as an ODM/OEM entity in 1994 and established its own brand, DUNU, in 2006 to take advantage of all the gained technical and design skills. The team at DUNU is still relatively tiny, but one thing that it aims to set itself apart through from others is with more R&D, even compared to some larger brands. I was approached by the company about reviewing an upcoming set of IEMs, which turned out to be the FALCON PRO being examining today, so let's introduce DUNU to TechPowerUp!

The DUNU FALCON PRO is an update to the FALCON-C introduced in late 2016 and since discontinued, which used a single 9 mm dynamic driver with a carbon nanotube coating. I have no experience with the FALCON-C, but a look at the product page of the same reveals the design language has been retained here, although not much more than that. Gone is the amorphous zirconium alloy shell in favor of a more industrial 316 stainless steel construction. The bigger change comes with the patented driver composite technology called ECLIPSƎ, which was developed for the brand's flagship LUNA and then trickled down to newer launches in the form of this FALCON PRO (and ZEN PRO). How well does the technology from a $1700 set of IEMs translate here? Thanks to DUNU for sending us a review sample as we aim to find that and more out in our review which begins with a look at the product specifications in the table below.
