Zionote Unveils WireDream High Grade SATA Cables for Content Production Houses

You are probably not new to overpriced digital data cables, such as $100 HDMI cables that claim to improve quality of digital video, but this one takes the cake: a $300 (starting) SATA cable, made of 97% silver (wiring), and 3% gold (contacts), which claims to improve fidelity of data transferred, that can bring about subtle improvements to the quality of digital audio/video produced.

WireDream (WD-SATA-INDRA), from Korean company Zionote, is just that. It's a braided SATA cable, with wires made of silver, and contacts made of gold. It is available in lengths of 40 cm (WD-SATA-INDRA-40x), 50 cm (WD-SATA-INDRA-50x), and 60 cm (WD-SATA-INDRA-60x); with three variants based on the way the connectors are angled: straight-straight, straight-L(upwards, WD-SATA-INDRA-x0SU), and straight-L(downwards, WD-SATA-INDRA-x0SD).

Another rip-off product that no-one needs...

That said, the actual cable design isn't bad, but at $300+ a pop... no way :shadedshu

If you care about signal integrity, wouldn't it be better to use short, cheap cables instead of long, high-quality cables?

Don't you mean the OS that is being used? Apple users wont be shocked to hear about another overpriced piece of computing hardware. ;)

P.S - No hate, I use apple products too. :p

... that is juyst mean taking advantage of customers like that, no integrity

Hopefully they don't have any customers. I can't imagine paying 1500$ in SATA cables for a simple RAID 5 array

If SATA was an analogue standard... by all means. But it's DIGITAL! A cable with lower resistance and better impedence matching isn't going to improve BER whatsoever. Not with the SATA6 standard anyway. Standard cables are more than sufficient.

Ugh, but uninformed consumers are going to buy this anyway thinking it will somehow be better... :slap:

wait... isnt the whole point of DIGITAL is that this stuff doesnt matter? It is either a 1 or a 0... i dont remember the last time any piece of software measured the quality of my 1s and 0s or even could if it wanted to.

I would say higher cable quality = lower overhead and latency on the cable, meaning better performance, BUT that would be really true if the cable would be over 10 meters, not 50cm!!! WTH??? Suckers will buy this anyways....

Guys, if you go and translate the page, you can see they stated that this cable is a "Serial ATA cable for pure ultra high-end audio", "The analog sound becomes smooth, the stage becomes wider"...
