MSI Announces its GeForce GTX 660 TwinFrozr III Graphics Card Series

MSI's GeForce GTX 660 lineup consists of a pair of custom-design graphics cards that take advantage of the company's trusty TwinFrozr III cooling solution. The series consists of a base-model, clocked at 980/1033/6008 MHz (core/Boost/memory), and an OC variant, clocked at 1033/1098/6008 MHz. The base model is priced at US $239, with the OC version going for $259. Based on the 28 nm GK106 silicon, the GPU packs 960 CUDA cores and a 192-bit wide memory interface, holding 2 GB of memory.

At $230, it is an ok value. Most notably, it is already september now. At $260, these are a rip off compared to what is already available. $260 MSI?? This is NOT a Lightning, Hawk, or any other special edition. O/C is rather weak as well.

It's N660GTX Twin Frozr 2GD5/OC $239 on Newegg, not sure what all that fuzz is about since that's just $10 than the non OC'ed cards and $10 cheaper than most other OC cards.
O/C is rather weak as well.
It's the highest clocking 660 on the Egg, together with a gigabyte card.

Also, MOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAR MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEgaHuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurtzz are useless in that regard if you read Wizz's review:
Just like on the GTX 660 Ti, we see MSI's card deliver more performance at the same clock frequency than any other GTX 660 card from other manufacturers. MSI's special tweaking also shows in our overclocking results. Here, the MSI card delivers the highest overclocked performance despite reaching lower clock speeds.
So.. at $10 over the regular 660's I'd consider that, a steal.

MSI Guy,

Wizzard posted the card at $260. A full $30 over the standard 660 so that is where I got that from. Wasn't aware it was $240 instead.
I wasn't bashing the MSI's O/C capability, but instead the 660s in general. Of all the aftermarket card designs, twin frozrs are still my favorite. Overclocking on a Hawk HD 7870 is epic!
