Verbatim Introduces the Store 'n' Go Ultra Slim Hard Drive

Verbatim has announced the launch of its thinnest hard drive to date. At just 10.5 mm thick, the Verbatim Store 'n' Go Ultra Slim HDD is one of the world's slimmest portable hard drives - 20 per cent thinner than previous Store 'n' Go models.

Due to the 7 mm thin internal hard drive inside, the slim profile of the Verbatim Store 'n' Go Ultra Slim Hard Drive makes it a beautiful companion to an Ultrabook computer. The Verbatim Ultra Slim Hard Drive has a 500 GB capacity and provides a sleek storage extension or backup medium for a range of computing and consumer applications. It is available in black and silver.

The Store 'n' Go Ultra Slim drive is equipped with a USB 3.0 port for super-fast data transfer - up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0. The drives are immediately ready to be used on both PC and Mac and are FAT-32 pre-formatted. They are sold preloaded with Nero BackItUp Essentials software that allows PC users full system backup and restore functions, the ability to schedule automatic backup by date/time and an encrypted backup option with password control.

Verbatim's Green Button energy-saving software reduces energy consumption and extends the drive's life expectancy by automatically placing the drive into sleep mode whenever the user chooses this to happen. There are 3 'Sleep Setting' options. Set the suspend mode to come in after 10 minutes of use, or by increments of 10 minutes up to 120 minutes. Set the drive to suspend immediately by double clicking the Green Button icon on the desktop, alternatively you can set the drive to 'Never suspend the disk'.

The Verbatim Store 'n' Go Ultra Slim HDD is also ideal for USB Recording. Many TVs nowadays are equipped with one or more USB port(s). We have already grown accustomed to playing back photos and movies from a USB hard drive or a USB stick on the TV. Now an additional USB feature has been added to TV sets - USB Recording. If you have recently bought a new TV there is good chance that it will support USB Recording, in particular when you have bought a mid range or high end TV. USB Recording enables you to record programmes to an external storage device directly connected to your TV via USB. Your external HDD basically acts as a video recorder. You can also use it to pause live TV. With USB Recording, your external USB hard drive becomes the replacement of your HDD/DVD recorder or even your VHS video recorders.

The Verbatim Store 'n' Go Ultra Slim HDD comes in a new blister packaging which is 30 per cent smaller and lighter than previous packaging, which helps to reduce CO2.

The product is available to buy across Europe from November and will cost £59.99 on par with the price of other Store 'n' Go models. The unit is sold with a complimentary USB 3.0 cable.

After my last 500GB slim HDD I bought several months ago, I'm still waiting to see 1TB slim external HDD ofcourse with USB3... but currently there's no 7mm or less 2.5HDD with 1TB capacity in the market

Only recently WD announced a 5mm 500GB HDD, and also 7mm 1TB HDD, but these are too new, they announced them last September and they need time to be in the market, they made them mainly for Ultrabooks... But I guess we will see them also in portable hdds
