Wortmann Releases its First Windows 8 Ultrabook

Wortmann AG has this week a new version of the Terra Mobile Ultrabook 1450 II, one that comes with Windows 8 Pro (64-bit) pre-installed. Pictured below, this Win8 ultrabook weights 1.6 kg, is 19 mm thick an features a 14-inch (1366 x 768) screen, a 1.8 GHz Core i3 processor, 4 GB of RAM, Intel HD Graphics 4000, and a 120 GB solid state drive.

Wortmann's creation also has a 1.3-megapixel webcam, Gigabit Ethernet, WiFi, Bluetooth, a 3-in-1 card reader, one USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI output, and a 7,800 mAh battery providing up to 7 hours of operation. The Terra Mobile Ultrabook 1450 II is backed by a two-year warranty and costs €729.

Not everyone looks for gaming performance. For those specs, that size and that weight it's even priced nicely.

No, I can barely hold it with one hand. But I prefer chunky, heavier laptops. I've used some flimsy ultrabooks in my time.

I do to, generally, but thin and light nowadays doesn't necessarily mean flimsy. You'd be surprised actually.

EDIT: It depends what I prefer btw. I bought a Lenovo Thinkpad E135 netbook for my sister and it's quite excellent tbh.

I think they're new. TPU started reporting on monitors a couple of months ago iirc.

According to Wikipedia they've apparently existed for some time now (since the 80's), but it seems like they focus on Germany? Which might explain it...

i have a gaming ultra book, it is pretty thin, has GT640M and a ivy bridge CPu with 8GB of memory and a 128GB SSD and 750GB HDD, and a 1600x900 screen and it wieghs very little.

I really prefer it to a clunky POS, it costs about $1.2K

Everyone has different needs. An ultrabook would never suffice for me - I prefer powerful CPUs and a bunch of monitors to increase productivity. So to turn it around, I really prefer my desktop to some fragile underpowered POS. :laugh:

Wortmann is a german company which specialized in business IT and has been around e.g. our company for quite some time. Just recently they seem to push more into the consumer market(though not with this laptop).

Not what you would call a portable laptop, more a desktop replacement. :laugh:

Tough as nails though and still does everything I need. :p

your gear does not sound very ultrabooky to me, more like 17' :D. anyway if price in USA was that than here in magic Eruoland everyhing for consumers is 1$ = 1 Euro (so yea - for 1200 euros you can get gear like that). but still 730 Euros for i3 and 1366 x 768 is little too high (must be riding win8 hype)

-2005 15 inch inspiron had 1920*1200 panels
-Stupid Apple have 15.4 inch 3800 something*2000 something screen, and 13 inch mac book 2560*1600.
-ASUS has 1080p s-ips tablets
