E3 2020 Cancelled due to Coronavirus

The world's largest gathering of video game publishers, developers, gamers, and associated artists, the Electronic Entertainment Expo, or E3, won't be held this year, according to an ArsTechnica report citing sources among members of ESA, the show's organizers. At the time of this writing, ESA made no formal announcement from the ESA about the show's fate - whether it's cancelled, delayed, or transformed into an online event like many other trade-shows this year. Most trade-shows scheduled for 2020 have suffered one of these three due to the COVID-19 outbreak that has recently gained "global pandemic" status by the World Health Organization. COVID-19 is a highly contagious respiratory tract infection that has claimed over 3,000 lives globally. This would be the first time that E3 has been cancelled since its debut edition in 1995.

Update Mar 12th: It's official, E3 2020 has been cancelled. "After careful consultation with our member companies regarding the health and safety of everyone in our industry - our fans, our employees, our exhibitors and our longtime E3 partners - we have made the difficult decision to cancel E3 2020, scheduled for June 9-11 in Los Angeles," says organizer ESA in its statement announcing the cancellation

RenaldWhatever thing is true about that virus, it's not a matter who or if, but only when. I think discussing that point is useless
1, 2 or 6 months before hitting global population (I mean more than 1 billion) ?

Stop freaking out, start learning basic stuff about hygiene (like washing hands, and not only use hydro-alcoholic solutions), and next part is up to scientists !
They won't find a cure fast enough because it's a virus but they will, at some point, find a vaccine they will need to adapt at each mutation.

Stop cancelling all stuff because of the fear created for basically a disease... It's a freaking flu !!! A fast one, but still a flu.
The only positive aspect is pollution reduction >.>
That's just it though -- scientists are still trying to find out if it's a flu, or something else entirely. And I think that's part of the reason why people are so spooked. The media, unfortunately, is definitely NOT helping in this regard and actually exacerbating the problem, IMHO. I mean, I'm not going to lie, the situation IS in the back of my mind, especially given I suffer from OCD surrounding germs/illness, enough that I decided to put my trip to Denmark (where it's also been confirmed) on hold until September; I just hope things are returning to "normal" by then! But at a certain point, the media's attempt at keeping people informed just becomes fear mongering -- repent, the end is near!

Hand-washing and staying home when sick -- not just if you think you've been exposed to COVID-19, but ANYTIME you're sick, for the love of jeebus -- are critical, but not an absolution solution to this problem; a lot of people who work (mostly in the US) can't afford to stay home when ill, so they go to work and end up getting others sick. And while hand washing is critical (um...shouldn't it be ALL THE TIME? lol) people cough without covering their mouths or don't sneeze into the bend of their elbow, those droplets become airborne...yeah, you know the rest.

I understand people are scared/worried/concerned, but for f$^k's sake that doesn't mean people should stop living and find the nearest nuclear bunker...

rtwjunkieWell, there is the matter of them intubating those in severe breathing distress, so that’s something you’re not gonna get at home.
Ah ok, yes I guess that is different from flu for vast majority who get it. Hmm, slowing it down at all costs now makes a lot more sense. I could see how overwhelming the hospitals could actually result in a lot of deaths otherwise when you explain it like that. I keep forgetting this is a lung disease where as flu is not so much.

tomc100The only people who have to worry about this virus are immunocompromised or weak immune system such as old people, babies, cancer patients, etc. You might as well start cancelling all events because the virus is not going anywhere and will be everywhere.
No. The virus does not kill you. What kills is the reaction of your organism (sepsis, fever). Mortality rate among elders is higher simply because they have lower endurance.
40*C fever and pneumonia often kill older people - no matter what caused them.

The reason we're "cancelling all stuff" is to make the virus spread slower.
There will be no "cure". We have to get through this. Possibly over 50% will get infected. Maybe 10% will have to be hispotalized. That's it.

Joe Rogan podcast had a top health guy on yesterday. He said even with the slowing down him and other experts in the field expect coronavirus to kill close to half a million by years end, and that the summer heat won't slow it down any as it is a cousin of SARS which proved to not be slowed down by summer months. So imagine if they didn't slow it down and put the fear into people, that number would for certain be higher.

It's much higher than regular flu, I think that is the part not getting across to people. This guy also said that people with diabetes, high blood pressure, and obesity combined with being age 40s or so is a higher chance of death from coronavirus, that is separate from the flu too, something new for sure.

I highly recommend all of you watch that Joe Rogan podcast, forget guys last name, Michael O. I think it was. Very informative, and top guy, worked under 3 different Presidents, etc. He is legit.

I wonder about the Summer Olympics at this rate. Hopefully this will have blown over by then.

It should be much higher than regular flu, most of the Western World (at least) inoculates for a number of flu strains annually for risk groups and front line medical staff.

OH, I have such a headache
Yeah this does suck. Would be nice to see things not get canceled but it's fear of the unknown that does it.
Good luck everyone thank the ones responsible for bringing it here is all you can do.
