AMD Confirms "Vermeer" Zen 3 Not Delayed, to Launch in 2020

AMD in an official briefing call with us confirmed that the company's "Zen 3" client processors are on-track for launch within 2020. This refutes rumors that "Zen 3" based Ryzen processors had been delayed to 2021 in favor of giving the upcoming Ryzen 3000XT reign over the rest of the year. The call was chaired by AMD's client-segment product managers who were speaking purely in context of their product segment, which is how we deduce that they were referring to "Vermeer" and not [just] "Milan." They were responding to speculation that "Zen 3" has been delayed to 2021, forcing AMD to refresh its existing IP.

In the call, AMD told us that the information about "Zen 3" launching in 2020 is not under embargo, and so here we are. An AMD spokesperson told us that "the rumor on Zen 3 delay is inaccurate." AMD recently also refuted rumors of "Zen 3" being based on 5 nm, by putting out microarchitecture roadmap slides on the occasion of a recent investor relations event, which reaffirmed "Zen 3" as a 7 nm-class microarchitecture.

dicktracyGood. The XTs are still too slow in gaming. Get Zen3 out now and leave slow Zen2 for slow consoles where being slow makes sense.
I have no idea how this is even allowed on such a great tech website

You seem to be okay with all the anti-Intel comments so far but got ticked off as soon as someone starts calling AMD out for their shortcomings.

Put your handbag down please.

As for this news, the dark cloud has returned over Intel's head. 3800XT with it's 4.7Ghz boost clock is enough already to swat aside Comet Lake.

ZEN2 does more than enough for PC Gaming on top of everything. The difference between AMD & Intel in pc gaming is negligible at best nowadays.

Allowing one to express there own opinion is important. It's obviously incorrect to assume ZEN2 is slow in gaming, but that's what he believes for some reason.

TomgangNooooooo how dare AMD give poor little Intel more trouble by releasing ZEN 3 in 2020.

Nar just joking. It's good with competition. That keeps prices down, innovation up and it benefits us consumers. We have seen for years what the lack of competition dit to Intel. They got lazy releasing one I7 quad-core after another for years, even on there HEDT they released a i5 quad-core with out HT and even throw the platform/chipset whas quad-channel memory support, the CPU's only had dual-channel support and really dit not innovate for a long time.
Can you say something useful? Enough mindless ppl say "competition is good" blah blah blah. We all know that already. You don't sound like some wise guru. It's just annoying seeing these pointless posts

Intel can use more ZEN pounding. It's essential that AMD launch ZEN3 in 2020 and especially before the 2020 Christmas Season.
AMD needs to continue to lead the CPU industry because eventually Intel will end up with a competitive product and some advantages going with AMD will be lost or could be lost.

I certainly welcome news like this, though it makes me wonder who will buy Zen 2 "XT" processors now.
